Isles mistake was Picking Nilsson over Zach Parise in the draft.Lou Lam came out of his shoes to take Parise with the next choice. Parise is a star ,not to mention an Isles legacy.Nilsson is a whimp,Milbury loved the Euro-players for some reason.

Yeah, let's not get into all the dumb moves Mad Mike made during his tenure because discussing it will drive all sane people crazy. He's gone--ding dong the wicked witch is dead.

Let's just hope that the Isles can rack up some more points on this road trip.

Sam is right, wasn't Parise's dad having been an ex-Islander enough of an endorsement to take Zach? Also passed up in that draft: Ryan Getzlaf, Mike Richards and Corey Perry.

haha.. a forward thinker.. rare among Isles fans. we don't need to re-live millberry's (i spell wrong for lack of respect) gaffes every day.
this should be an exciting season w/ the tight Atlantic division race.. decent road trip so far...

Um... if you're saying that the guy's got great skills but he just wasn't motivated enough why would you make those statements right before playing against him? I'm not sure I follow the wisdom of motivating the guy.

Rob, Kevin Lown said the same thing about him (Nilson) a few weeks ago in The Hockey News. And Snow said the smae thing when he was traded. Either way It is nice to see a GM Trying to help a team and not his own Ego like mad mike. I seem to remember a lot of GM's stating to the press that they would have made the same trade in a heartbeat if they were in Snow's shoes, but they didn't, cause they didn't even know Smyth was available... To me that is a GM who is making the right phone calls. At least Snow isn't just sitting around waiting for free agents to come to him, People seem to forget that after Smyth, Gomez and Drury, the 4 next best available guys all signed with the ISLES. If the team is as doomed as Newsday and The almighty Ranger Fans will tell you then Snow did a hell of a job getting those guys here. As for this year I can't wait to see what Snow does next, Remember he was smart enough to leave hmself some cap room to add to the Mix. There are very few playoff teams that can say that.( Yes they are a playoff team ) GO ISLES!!!!!!!

I agree....after the mass exodus by smyth, blakey and others this past summer...everyone was saying that the Isles would finish at the bottom of the conference yet again. That could happen mind you....but as of today, they are tied for the 8th spot. What the Ises need is another offensive player or two and they could be pretty competitive not only the rest of this season, but in the playoffs(hence the money we have under the cap). Garth Snow has already surpassed Milburry in my opinion as a better GM. As long as Depietro stays healthy, we will be in it until the final few games of the season...just like last year.

I wasn't bashing the trade. I just thought it was odd to make that comment right now when you just might provide the motivation that he needs.

As far as Nilsson goes, it's not like Nolan just decided he didn't have heart and never gave him any chance at all. He played 53 games for the Isles. He occasionally showed flashes of that talent but was usually invisible.

Some of you pollyanna's need to open your eyes, this is a "team" of has beens, never was, and never will be players, in other words this collection of misfits SUCK, just like the owner, GM, and coach. it's now 3 to zip oilers, wonder what bullspit no clue nolan will espouse after the game, as a 34 year isles fan i say eff this bunch of a-holes, and some of you retard "fans", the ones who are completely satisfied with mediocre play, because thats exactly what you are getting.

Teddy tonto needs to get this bunch of nobody's to put an effort into their games, it's the same spit game in and game out, a complete lack of commitment to winning, and it seems to come from the useless eurotrash players, take the money and hide, just like yashin used to do,why is it everybody that signs with this team ultimately SUCKS,and garth snowjob wants the idiot fans to keep laying out money for the garbage we get on the ice, i say eff the owner, gm, and coach, and the spit players.
