San Jose just got 10 times better. There was no way Ottawa was going to get fair return in this deal. At first I though this was good for Ottawa because they got the monkey off their back, but then when I thought about it all Ottawa got was Michalek, Cheechoo is washed up and has done nothing since his 50 goal season and you cant expect an impact from a 2nd round pick for a couple years, that is assuming the pick makes it to the NHL.
Ottawa will feel this trade for a while. When they lose Alfredsson to retirement and their defense still has not improved they will have to rebuild right from square one.

Heatley sent to San Jose
The Ottawa Senators have sent disgruntled winger Dany Heatley to San Jose in exchange for Milan Michalek, Jonathan Cheechoo and a second-round pick.
