Full story: The Morning Call

The Capitals did some payback Tuesday night, beating the Flyers 2-1 in a shootout to avenge the only loss they've had in a month and ease some of the sting from last year's first-round playoff series loss.

You're kidding me with this headline, right? Flyers were at the end of a fairly successful and grueling road trip and this was all the Caps could bring? Winning a shootout means squat. And gee, Moevechkin looked pretty spry taking that cheap shot at Carter toward the end of the 3rd. Just the skill someone needs to perfect the art of diving.

For all the praise being heaped on the Caps for winning 7 straight games, they didn't look THAT great against the an injury-depleted Flyers team that just got back from a Western Conference road trip. This was a game that Caps were looking forward to, and trying to return the favor for the Flyers blowing them out 7-1 at the Wachovia Center. The Caps are lucky Theodore played well last night, or they could have very well suffered a bitter loss.

Even in their winning streak, it's not like they were playing spectacular teams. Yea, they came back to beat the Rangers, when trailing 4-0, and they beat them 3-1 in the other game, but other than that, they haven't beaten any teams at their best. They'll continue their good run, because of the division they play in, but we'll see how they do once the playoffs begin.

If the Caps coach wanted the Flyers to Stop playing, he should've kept Ovechkin on the bench, and used his 3rd and 4th line only.

Until the other sides starters come out, you keep playing, period. Ask Pete Carrol if scoring the extra touchdown was "running up the score" when he had Penn State down by 17.

For those who don't know, Penn State scored 10 points, pulling within two touchdowns, and were driving with 3 minutes left in the last quarter.
If Carrol hadn't "Run up the score" Penn State would've been working with it full offense, instead of pass only, down by 7.

And as for the Caps themselves. They looked horrible. Especially in a game they wanted for revenge, against a team so hurt it has a D-man playing wing.
