Looks like another year of pain and suffering. Perhaps the Islanders will just start to look decent before moving to KC or OKC and become the "rustlers" or something like that. I'm pretty convinced the team will fold and move. Years of garbage on the ice, dilapidated coliseum(although I personally love it), wretched uniforms, and front office morons who know nothing. All spells disaster. I wonder if Wang would at least be good enough to allow the logo to be used by a new team coming into the LI area at least? Probably not.

What youth movement, they put Comeau in the minors but keep Hilbert. Any team with a Hibert and Freddie Meyer is a desperate team. This is the worst Islander team since their initial expansion year. I feel sorry for Okposo, it's not easy for a young player to develop when you are surrounded by minor leaguers. It is absolutely inexcuseable, pitiful, and shameful how this team has sunk so low with no way out.

If anyone has any expectations that the Islanders are going to be anything close to competitive this year you need to have your head examined. I hope they finish dead last and get the top pick in next years draft. Youth movement = several seasons to get it working. Just going to have to sit and wait though it.
if you finsih last in the league you are not guaranteed the top pick in the NHL draft

All I've ever really seen are youth movements since I was a young kid. What is in the kool-ade in Uniondale? How long does this youth movement last? 1 season, and then Okoposo and Hunter are traded for Bryan Smolinski?

The season all ready feels long and it's game six. This team is a donut with out a center in the fold.

I wasn't planning on commenting on last night's game but Mike, your comment caused me to reply here. The issue is the Tambellini comment. I have to agree to disagree with you here. He doe sbelong in the NHL! Ab-so-freaking-lutely! HOWEVER, he may be better served laying elsewhere in the NHL. After watching him last night, I get the impression he is another Todd Bertuzzi, Tim Connelly. He has fantastic potential but can't do it for the Islanders. I hate to say this because I really like him as a player. He was the leading scorer in the AHL last season and shows a lot of fire and hustle but can't seem to find the back of the net just like the two aforementioned former Islanders.
As for Nielsen, well he needs to go back down to the AHL and toughen up. He is easily pushed off of the puck way to often for my liking. He needs to build strength and weight to be successful up here.
Okposo, he killed me last night. Too many touches, fancy passes. He needs to shot more and stop looking for the safe play.
I was extremely disappointed like most of you guys with last night's performance. Let's hope they start pulling it together. I know we're not playoff material but I don't want to end the year with only 15 wins either!
Tim Connolly? He had only 7 goals last season and he is injury prone! We have a whole load of those type players on the team now. Tambellini is a career AHL player who couldn't put the puck in the Atlantic from Jones Beach. I wish it wasn't so.

That guy is pathetic !!!

The Isles web site is a joke, just promotions.

When I move the team or sell it, why should it be saddled with the "Islanders" name? And for the person hoping that I'll leave the name for some future expansion team, you can have the name! But LI already has an NHL team and no one shows up (not that I blame them). I bet you're still hoping that the Brooklyn Dodgers come back!

Garth has convinced me that if we get the #1 pick in next year's draft, we should trade down. The best offer so far is a handful of magic beans.

Really like that Gordon style? It's called "run around like a chicken with it's head cut off" hockey. It's one thing to suffer a loss, but when your team is boreing it hurts even more. Okposo is a first round draft pick wasted and Tambellini and Nielsen don't belong in the NHL. Why not give Gordon and DP five year contract extensions. Snow, the Elmer Fudd of General Managers, should resign and become Wang's pretty boy. Sorry, he's that already.
Experience trumps youth every day! They need Comeau's fire.
Are you kidding? Tamby and Nielsen have both played better than Okposo this year. Nielsen is probably the best player on the ice under 28 years old. Okposo has yet to impress me.
Comeau's fire?? Oh, you mean what he had the first 5 games when he was called up last year? Where was he after that? Invisible...which is exactly why Gordon sent him down, to light a fire under his azz again. He'll be back...and better for it.

since we are in the youth movement (as we have been since the fisherman logo was the "new" thing) we are overmatched because the other teams have more seasoned and experienced NHL players on the team. We do have a few good men on our team, but we have to many that lack the experience that the other teams have. Garth was an idiot for doing this to our team, and Wang is even worse for allowing this to happen. Sadly I am thinking that this is all a ploy to move the Isles when their lease is up in 2014, but by then, if they continue to play this way, ticket prices will be so low, almost no one will notice until we hear about the "new" expansion team, the Nova Scotia Islanders, or wherever they move the team
In my view, it all started when Don Maloney made the infamous statement "We are going in a new direction" many years ago. He was overmatched as a GM and set the franchise back at least 3-5 years. Then came Mike Milbury, who wanted to hold everyone accountable EXCEPT himself. Poor draft results and his impatience could very well have have caused the current Islander team to be constructed the way it is today. Garth Snow should hire an experienced front office person to help him with acquisitions and player evaluations...

Whether the team moves after the SMG debacle is over all depends on the final decisions related to the Lighthouse project. If that in any way is delayed or rejected outright, I hope Charles Wang can find a local buyer willing to invest money and patience, otherwise I feel the Islanders will be no more...

It's a disgrace that Snow and Wang would field a team like this. Comrie offers nothing, Okposo looks like just another body. Same old team, same old organization. Snow/Gordon... Wang doesn't know his wing from his wong. You almost have to try to have a team without a single superior player these days, but the Isles have it. And did you see Bettman in between periods, telling how Islander fans need a new building, how it's long overdue, blah-blah -- what a crock. Bettman knows about as much of the Islanders and what they need as he does the game of hockey, which is absolutely squat. He was hired by 26 white male NHL owners hoping he could work some Jewish money magic on the league after years of working as Stern's #2 at the NBA. No other reason. That's why there was a lockout, that's why all he can talk about is new arenas and the business side, he knows nothing else.
First, what is "Jewish money magic" referencing?...

As for the Islander roster, there's alot of poor drafts and so many coaching changes that any form on continuity just wasn't possible. I agree that Snow should bring in an experience NHL person to help with scouting and player evaluations. Remember, if not for Charles Wand and Sanjay (the crook) Kumar stepping up and purchasing the team from Steve Gluckstern/Millstein Bros., the real possibility existed the franchise would have been sold and moved to either Kansas City or elsewhere...

If the NHL Board Of Governors wanted to terminate Gary Bettman, they have had plenty of opportunities to do so. Who is eminently qualified to become the NHL commissioner? The sport has been, for the most part, a regional sport for most of the last 25 or more years. No national TV contract to speak of (VS is NOT a network in the truest sense of the word) and oversaturation of teams, especially in markets that have trouble supporting them is a major part of the reason this sport hasn't grown...

I do believe if a franchise puts a winning product for their customer base, the facility becomes irrelevant. MSG is and has been an outdated facility for quite sometime...
