Maybe they can package all the 2's they have with this # 1 to Atlanta for the # 2 overall and get Tavares AND Hedman.

excellent move...even though its one of the last picks of the first round i say take tavares at 1 and the best available defensemen later

Great move for the Isles. Atlanta will not give up their lottery pick to the Isles. Also the Isles clear up some cap. Garth made a smart trade for once.

Just take the best *player* available. The Isles could use a D stud but you can't bet on that when you're 28-30 in the draft. They've got guys in their system who will develop to be at least as good as Campoli.

Very good trade. It doesn't make sense to keep a lot of guys who can fill the 3-6 D role when you've got no stars. The Isles D would be vastly improved by just adding 1 top tier D-man who can play 25+ minutes.

Who the heck made this trade??? Mad Mike or Garth Snow. What an idiot. Trade the coach instead -- he's the biggest problem with this team and getting rid of decent players who can't play for a minor league coach sends the wrong message to anyone thinking of coming here. Oh that"s right -- no one is thinking of coming here! I have seats on the glass to the Devils game -- anyone wanna buy 'em?

Wow, if Campoli didn't want to be here then Garth did the right thing by shipping him off. As for Comrie, BYE BYE!!

I don't mind getting rid of Comrie. He has a weak shot and messes around with the puck too much. I liked Campoli but if he asked to be traded then good riddance. Continue to restock the farm and develop players. Mark...if I lived back in NY I'd take your seats, at least then they'd be filled with real fans. Snow has committed to building with youth, it takes TIME!!! A first rounder for an average forward(Comrie) on a one year deal? You hate to give up a young defenseman with Campoli's skating and offensive upside but you have to give to get. Good deal.

What a Milbury like trade. I guess it was meant to unload a couple of malcontents. Bur still, they gave up two useful players for a high number one and a throwaway. How typical.

great move, even if it is a last pick in the round, however I always thought Campoli would wind up being good

Comrie is worthless

I like campoli but he could not clear the crease but had offensive skill. Dont let the door hit you on the way out COMRIE!

They would not have gotten anything for comrie at the end of the year. Simply no point to pay him for the rest of this year. Besides, he only would show up once in a while. I guess no more BK Sweeneys in RVC. If Campoli wanted out then fine. Its not like he was so great. He was good, but not great. Meyer is better. Good moves.

With this move the Isles could draft
the 1st player and the last player in
the 1st round. Not bad a 1st round
pick for Camp and Duff.
I liked Campoli. Now if we can get
rid of Witt. I would take a 3 round
pick for him.
I just hope the Isles don't draft two
goalies.

With both McAmmond and Comrie being from the Edmonton area and both former Oilers let me suggest NYI got the better player in this swap. The fact they received a first-round pick for Campoli, who was a seventh-round or somewhere near there, for SJ's 1st round pick this year is an upgrade.

This team is a hockey version of the Knicks. They have to have a plan and stick with it. It will take awhile to right the ship but it will not be done overnight. The ship has been far out to sea for a very, very, long time.

time to start the fire sales for draft choices. Part of me would try to get rid of any of the last remnants of Milbury. Hopefully we can get another 1st rounder somehow giving us 3 altogether, then stock up on some 2nd rounders. I would also try to dump DiPi somehow if possible, he's done, boy what a bust he has been showing us maybe a year and a half of decent play then just pure crap for the remainder.

Agreed.
The Isles arent getting Atlantas pick- no way, no how, unless they were trading their own and moving down.
But one comment about the notion of 'clearing cap"... in this part of NY, that is not an issue.

I honestly wish Campoli all the best... he does not have to do bad at all for this to wind up being a good move for the Islanders.

They should have thrown that piece of zhit, gervais in the deal, it would have been addition by subtraction, gervais is one of the worst d-men ever to play this game, watch how he gets muscled off the puck, and gives it away in the d-zone, he just sux.

Chances of Campoli asking to be traded are highly suspect. As for Comrie...good riddance. I'm sure he'll get a rather warm Ottawa welcome (fat chance). Now as for my review of this trade...WHAT THE H E L L IS GARTH DOING!?!?!?!?!? I'd rather see Gervais gone. My only guess we'll go for Hedmen.
