Islanders are on a 'team-building' run

Full story: Newsday

Sharing the same foxhole through losing streaks of 10 and eight games the past two months may or may not have provided the Islanders with a greater appreciation of each other.

In the business world "team building" means time wasted in meetings in an attempt to get employees from different departments to work together instead of stabbing each other in the back. I think it has the same meaning here.

Don't you think that's pretty much what he meant when he said we'd need to go 30-10 to make the playoffs? We know that the rest of the season is pretty much a wash but he wants to use the otherwise "wasted time" to build for the future. I can't disagree with that.

I like Callahan or Hillen. I think they both show a lot of promise.

They went out drinking with Stamkos after the TB game and they're still hung over.

Bottom line, I've been preaching, especially to those who want Garth's head, bash Wang, and know little to nothing about building a team, or building an entire organization of scouts, etc. etc. I look at the Isles before Cup 1,,,damn they weren't so great,,,but then a player here, a youngster there...omg 4 cups. So Garth, thanks for what you do, and what you are doing, because to those of us in the REAL know,,,we know. We aren't there yet, but I'd rather be where we are vs. where we were...

I have been giving Snow and Wang the benefit of the doubt all along before I bash them. I see improvement, and a future for this team. lets hope the future is on Long Island!

Things are looking good, but come on...how good would John Tavares look in a NY Islanders jersey?

Although Bill Guerin and Doug Weight have been great leaders for the team, I hope Garth can deal them for additional prospects and draft picks. The Isles are following the right strategy. Keep playing the kids, and let us hope that they get the number 1 draft pick.
