All along they were saying DP will be ready for the start of this season. It is obvious they lied and me thinks his career is over.

hate to break it to ya, the only reason he signed here is because this was his only option. facts are facts.

WOW! The 5th goalie added in a month. Looks like DiPietro won't be ready in time for the season and maybe his career is done.

If DiPietro is available to play this season in-front of Roloson, more than likely Biron will be traded away.

Kind of surprising, but a win-win signing for the Islanders, although it makes me wonder if DP isn't coming along quite as well as we are made to believe (let's not forget they just drafted goalies in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the draft). They still have to pay him for 12 years, but there is now no need to rush him back. The Isles are protecting there investment. Without DP, they arguably have a top two tandem that rivals anyone else in the league. If he comes back early in the season, then they trade Biron. If DP doesn't come back this year, they trade Biron or Roloson to a desperate team looking for a goalie at the trade deadline. Either way, Roloson/Biron gives them two second tier #1 goalies and isn't costing them all that much money ($3.9 mil total), and let's not forget that the NHL has a minimum salary cap, which (I may be wrong) they Islanders are currently below.

I cannot help but feel a little angry at the fact that its almost two years since Rick Dipietro was healthy and the team has yet to address the fans. This is not a mid season injury where they want to keep it quiet. This is obviously a major problem that he left two years ago and is STILL NOT ready to begin a full season in good health. I just feel that the team has a responsibility to the fans at this point. I dont want to hear that "Ricky is doing well with his rehab" I want to hear what is wrong with the franchise goaltender whom they signed for 15 years. Last we as fans heard at the end of last year was that Ricky was rehabing, and then during the summer he's on crutches, after undergoing another surgery??? What is going on here? Which doctor isnt doing the right job? Why is it now a THIRD season that Rick DiPietro is not healthy?????????

Great move by snow! Now we can get good value for a goalie mid season or at the deadline. Why not try and get another #1 pick at best? Probably #2 pick at worst. How cany anyone not like this move? Its obvious Dipietro is not starting the season. Let him take his time, we have 2 quality starters and a very young team. Its not about this season other than developing our young talent(Okoposo, Tavares, Bailey, Hillen, Neilsen, Joensuu when called up) its about the future. The best thing about this move is that the Islanders will not let DP hold them back, which is what a lot of islanders fans were worried about. They are moving on with or without Dp. This is a solid pick up at an extremely cheap price.
