It's like Garth and Jankowki get tunel vision and pass up the obvious best choice...We skipped out on Filitov also...

Sorry Greg. I know you like Kassian and I do as well...BUT he is NOT the player the Isles needed to get at the #12 spot. Dmitry Kulikoff is the guy we will be regretting not selecting over DeHaan. He is Hedman, Jr. He is to DeHaan what Tavares is to Peter Holland. I would have been OK with this draft if we'd picked him.

Will you guys ever be happy? If they had picked everyone as listed by THN or any or scouting agency you probably would say some thing like "these guys have no imagination". I think picking someone who was going to go in the first round and already has experience with the person you hope to be your number one goal scorer has alot of up side.

Snow, Moved in to the 12th pick, only for one reason! Ryan Ellis! But the islanders will never admit IT, it only makes sense. Cody Hodgson, played well this year, and maybe didn't deserve the MVP, but Bailey Simply out played him the year before! Bailey had a fine Rookie Year in Nhl!

Being that Zipay has a list of qualified players for his team instead of the always negative angle we get for anything about our team get us a list of who Snow qualified.

We can argue over the merits of Ellis and Kulikoff. I have seen them both play a number of times and I prefer Kulikoff. There is no such argument between Kulikoff and DeHaan.

I defended Garth for the Smythe trade. Thought it was a worthwhile gamble. He did a great job with last year's draft no matter what others think and signing Streit was a masterstroke. Thought so at the time and still do. Much as I disagree with picking Tavares over Hedman, I can understand it and can't fault him for it.

Picking DeHaan over Kulikoff is Garth's first great mistake. Mistakes can be good things if we admit to them and learn from them. Hopefully Garth will learn from this one.

Completely agree with Bill. Kulikoff is the Russian Victor Hedman. He can do it all: score, skate, move the puck, and hit.

But, maybe DeHaan will be the next Brian Leetch...LOL, yeah right.

Let us all remember that this i the Islanders; its not like it will all change over night! Like Bill said mistakes are fine as long as they learn from them.

I am pretty sure we will pick towards the top of the draft again next year.....so Garth will get plenty of practice.

I am still just so happy that they picked Tavares!!!!!

It's clear that Logan is upset that he doesn't have any insider contacts with the Isles. How long was Logan going on about the pick being Duchene? Lost a TON of credibility with that.

Biggest joke franchise in all of sports history. The once proud franchise should have folded prior to D Bag Milbury era.Leave the memories of a once great team alone and fold and move.Garth Snow a GM Cmon Taveras is going to get killed out there.DiPietro worst #1 in nhl history. We have 2 tall goalies now,wow can they protect Taveras.Too many mistakes to be mentioned, just let them move to K C

I love how much everyone jumps all over the negative about the Islanders. Ever actually wonder why the Islanders picked da haan??? this guy is gonna be the replacement for strait when strait is coming out of his prime. he's also experienced with tavares playing with him in the begining of last season guess what. they're both power play specialist. da haan had 5g 58a and i'm sure many of them were off tavares PP goals. this guy may not be much of a factor on this team in the next 2 seasons but after that except to see him and tavares hooking up alot on the PP.

I had no problem getting De haan. I just didnt understand trading again from the 16th pick. Once they got that high - I think their man would have been there.

Greetings from Germany, Mr. Logan
I have a slightly different view than you regarding last year's draft. I looked very closely at the draft table that year, and I predicted among my friends, and you have to believe me in this one, that the Isles would pick Josh Bailey ahead of everyone, because this team needs a playmaker at the center position, like a younger version of Doug Weight if you will. On the other hand the Isles do have their own power forward in Okposo, thus they didn’t see the need for selecting Cody Hodgson for this position, which he is. What’s the point in having similar players for one position? I figured that the Isles are drafting for their very needs and not the most popular guy who is still available.
In today's NHL speed and skill are far more important than size which Kassian is offering now for a rather smallish Buffalo team.
Tavares was the obvious choice this time and I believe Snojanks, like your friend Chris Botta uses to call the Decision-makers, were right in selecting Calvin DeHaan because he fits the mould of a Mark-Streit-kind-a-like puck moving offensive defenseman. Give him 2 or 3 years of learning in the juniors and he will develop properly.
It is always the same. The importance/magnitude of a draft always unfolds several years down the road.
The only thing which kind of bothers me this year is the selection of two talented goaltenders. To me it’s a sign that DiPietro’s future isn’t that bride anymore for years to come.
I am really looking forward to seeing what Snow is doing come Wednesday. I agree with you this time, Mr. Logan, that this roster needs a big, physical enforcer presence to protect our young players.

Hey "None of our Business" we miss you at Hockey Futures!!! Have you trashed the Mike Must Go Board? I saw you comments about Brian Leetch on Newsday a few days ago. Have you spoken with RC lately about the name dropping?
