I know everyone wants a MN player, but Schroeder is not the guy. I'm not a huge fan of these guys who are 5'8". PMB and Gaborik get pushed off the puck all the time and if they can't fake someone out it is usually a turn over. Take Glennie. He obviously can put the puck in the net and would be a replacement for Sheppard who can't score at all because he is too slow and kind of a wimp for a guy who doesn't score.

Size and weight are an important element but grit is what the fans want. Clutterbuck made himself(with the help of Jacques) because he skated hard, hit hard and played the game with passion. Parise, Langenbrunner, Iginla, Toewes are all hard nosed players who know that hockey is about energy. That is the type of player we need. Crosby seems to have lost his passion and relies on his skill which is why his numbers are dropping off fast.

Trade Josh H for 1? or maybe a couple 2's
Then pickup Tim Hayes for the backup goalie.
He had great numbers this last year and would sign for less then Josh

Schroeder is a no brainer at 12, if he's there. The Wild can watch him develop at the U and call him up when he's ready, probably after next year. He's a lot more like Pat Kane or Phil Kessel than PMB.

Jordan Schoeder hands down! He will give Wild fans a reason to be excited. He's a Minnesotan and he was one of the Gophers best players this year AS A FRESHMAN!!! Might have to trade up a few picks though. I would say either after his sophmore year or during his junior year he will make the switch to the NHL.

Who cares if Schroeder is only 5'8"!?! The guy produces and that is what counts. Most people grow 1-2 inches after high school anyways. And, not all short players are bad...

These players are 5'9" and ranged from 53 to 82 pts this season...

Mike Cammalleri, Patrick Kane, Martin St. Louis, Jiri Hudler, Derek Roy, Kris Versteeg, and Daniel Briere.

Sergei Samsonov is 5'8" and scored 48 pts this season. And, Brian Gionta is 5'7" and scored 60 pts this season.

And there are some tough people who are short too... Sean Avery is 5'9" and Cal Clutterbuck is 5'10" and lays out guys who are 6'4"

Whether through the draft, trade of free-agency the Wild really need a serious offensive threat! Defensively with Backstrom in the net the Wild are quite good, but have trouble scoring. The team has several good scorers (Koivu, etc) but need a prolific point producer on top of what those guys can offer.

If anybody over at the Wild has noticed, and maybe they have now, the Stanley Cup playoffs are being dominated by two things...young players...who score goals. The Wild have basically not much of either.
