I like Scott, but it's a shame because this basically means Boogaard is being traded. Scott has the same size as Boogaard and you can teach him to fight. Plus he's already shown basic hockey skills that Boogaard has shown he doesn't have.

Hard to justify keeping two enforcers on the team.

My guess is we keep Boogie on the roster until a month into the season, when he'll be worth more. Then he's traded to an Eastern Conference team.

I feel bad for Steph. He's a great guy, a team player who always looks out for his teammates. Can't say I blame him for feeling how he does. I would argue he's worth more to the team than Boogard.

First off, This was a great move for the WILD signing John Scott to add Depth into the lineup. Now, the WILD has to concentrate on resigning Gabby, the franchise player and SV.

Signing Scott was the first smart thing they've done so far. But just a year? We'll see a I Guess. I think the JR GM isnt going to be allowed to sign long term or deal for a "big name" until a daddy GM is found. Which makes sense.

Gabby's probably coming back but Kessle will also be available along with Saku. My heart wont be broken if Gabs doesnt sign.

And trade Boogs??? For what? Some sticks and a couple hockey pucks? If Chris Simon could be had for a 6th rounder a couple years ago from NY, and he had a history of scoring goals earlier in his career, whats the Wild going to get for Boogs who has a career of doing not much of anything else other than what hes known for? I like Boogs as much as anyone but without any other skills, he's basically just taking up space in a uniforma and on the bench. The guy plays 25-30 games a year for maybe 2-4 minutes of ice time a game and he sat out the remaining 8-10 games due to injury. How does that happen.

Buyout his contract or let it expire and part ways.

Signing Scott is a start. Re-sign Gabby to an incentive laden contract, 4-5 year duration, if incentives are attained; 9M a year. Let Boogs go, Scott actually contributes to the game. I like Boogs, but very single dimensional. Pursue Cammaleri and another gifted forward. Re-sign Skoula (reasonably priced), trade Johnsson and Zid (TOO EXPENSIVE, BOTH ARE LIABILITIES IN OUR ZONE)
I don't believe that most of the players will miss JL or DR...time for a change!!!!!!!!!

Keeping Scott probably means Boogaard is out. They'll trade him for whatever they can get which won't be much.

If a team has a choice between an enforcer and an enforcer who can play hockey too, I would take the latter.

Gotta love the Boogeyman but he is really not even a serviceable hockey player where John Scott is both a decent player and a first tier enforcer.

Also, something else kind of important going on here too; Boogaard is represented by Ron Salcer...the very same Ron Salcer that represents Gaborik and Brent Burns. The Wild may be looking to force Burns at least to choose between the team and his agent.

Gaborik will listen to offers but when it comes down to it, the Wild will probably make the best offer to him as the other teams will definitely hold his past injuries over his head and make him prove himself healthy before dishing out the mega-cash, mega-year deal and Craig Leipold has already made it publicly clear he wants #10 to stay with the Wild.

I agree with everything but the Skoula part. Now is our best chance to dump that anchor overboard.
