Can someone tell me why we are now singing Oh Canada at an all American team game? I also noticed that at a Buffalo vs Boston game. At one time understandably it was a courtesy to the visiting country’s back and forth, their national anthem would be played. Are we now required to stomach Oh Canada at all of our games now like it or not? To add insult to injury The Star Spangled Banner was played second. Do they sing Why are we rolling over for this? This is America, is it not?

Yes dear but this is America. Looks like evryone is wiping their feet on us these days. They signed contracts to represent the Pittsburg Penguins, or the Washington Capitals./(American teams) Both of which are in the United States. If they want to hear Oh Canada… they should play for Canadian team.

But how did you like the final score huh? I am a Rangers fan by birth right, but since I have moved here to Va I have watched the Caps come up from the last placed team to what they are now. I have much respect for them. Happy New Year to you Marissa, and God Bless. Take care.

I'm not saying I liked them singing Oh Canada...maybe Crosby, said he would cry if they didn't sing it...as for the score...I was happy the Caps won...I am an avid Flyers fan...they are my team...so I was only for the Caps, for this 1 game...it's always great to see the Penguins lose...and it helped the Flyers standing...I do love Hockey though...I respect that they can play that game on ice...it's like 2 sports in 1...Happy New Year to you as well...Go Flyers!!!

Sigh. If you're going to go around peddling your same tired xenophobic nonsense on every thread, I guess I'll have to follow you around and keep explaining it to you:

First, who gives a shit? Second, they do it not out of respect for the heritage of the players (then they'd have to sing the Russian and Ukrainian and Slovakian anthems, etc., etc.), but because the NHL itself is based in American and Canadian cities. And in fact, being sung last is not "an insult"--it's considered the more respected part of the order, which is why the host country ALWAYS has it sung second.

But back to point #1: get a friggin' life. If you're so insecure in your supposed patriotism that you can't even stomach hearing another country's anthem, you aren't really much of a patriot at all. Do you spend your days counting how many yellow ribbon stickers you have on your car compared to your neighbors? I'll bet you do. Tool.

This thread is about one thing: the return of the magnificent Jordan Staal. He looks hungry and rested and ready to kick ass. Barring any injuries, the Pens are now the deepest team in the NHL, and even though the Flyers and Rangers are both deep teams themselves (especially the Flyers), come playoff time no one is going to be able to roll four lines of talent the way the Pens can. Ray Shero is a hockey GENIUS.

As I posted before...the Flyers are responsible for 30% of the Penguins loses...and they have beaten the Penguins I believe 3 of the 4 times, they have played eachother, this season...The Flyers, have plenty of depth...The Flyers and the Pens...are going to go back and forth, with being number 1 in our division...The Flyers, just don't get the same level of CREDIT, as the Penguins...since you have Crosby...he gets all of the headlines...all of the teams, know this...
