Don't see this happening any time soon. Plus I think Thorton disappears during the playoffs. which the Flyers don't need another player to do.

I agree. This trade doesn't make sense because there's no reason a team would accept Danny Briere and Joffrey Lupul (a combined 10.75M in cap space) in exchange for Joe Thornton, and have Joe play on the third line for the Flyers, while the Sharks have little Danny Briere playing on the top line, and getting squashed by the tougher Western Conference teams. I don't see this happening. A deal that sounds more likely is Joffrey Lupul, Andreas Nodl and a pick in exchange for Pavelski and the rights to Mike Grier. That would give the Flyers a third line center with a ton of potential and a gritty third line winger that can bring a great amount of forecheck. Then the Flyers can reacquire Upshall and have a third line of Upshall-Pavelski-Grier...that would be really solid.

Setogucchi would be a great addition to the Flyers and has way more upside than Lupul does, but I doubt the Sharks would be willing to part with Devin unless they got Lupul, JVR, Nodl, and a pick. I don't want JVR to be used in a trade for a forwards, too. So, Setogucchi is out of the question.

hahaha, you think Joe Thornton is a 3rd line center. I'm sure he'd do great playing 14 minutes a game.

Faces, i never said that i believe Thornton is a 3rd line center...he's definitely a no.1 center. I was saying that it wouldn't make sense to bring Joe Thornton since Richards and Carter are our no.1 and 2 centers, and putting a no.1 center(on the 3rd line) is stupid. The guy who wrote this article believes that Thornton would thrive playing on the third line because he wouldn't have to carry the load.

And Flyersfan12, there is no way in HELL i'd ever give up Giroux. I don't care who the Flyers would be trading for, even if it was Roberto Luongo...I would never give Claude Giroux up. In Giroux, the Flyers have a franchise right wing. Plus, Thornton also has a big cap hit, and why would the Flyers pay 7M for a guy to play on the third line, when they can just use their money to go after a guy like Radek Bonk (a faceoff specialist) to be their third line center, and get some gritty third line wingers. Giroux, Richards, Carter, and Coburn are the 4 players that are not going anywhere.

Agree with every thing you said. I would like to see Upshall come back, but I think since he is a free agent he would be asking for alot of money. I think the Flyers need to be a little tight with their money and not give out the NMC or NTC like there candy.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Capricorn

A certain person is strong-willed with the Full Moon in your emotional house of others. It's a lunar eclipse too, so this could lead to some ructions in which everyone becomes firmly entrenched in their own opinions and refuses to acknowledge anyone else's point of view. Get the arguments out of the way early on, so you can then concentrate on having a really enjoyable New Year's Eve.
