As an Oilers' fan, I don't mind them continuing to underachieve. But, as you mentioned, before the playoffs are over they'll likely be gone in order to get someone in quickly for the draft. Who do you see as a candidate to replace Daryl?

How about Lanny mcdonald? I know he wanted the job a few years ago,but was denied the opportunity.... Maybe him and Daryl Sittler could be a gm tandem..For coach they need someone who isnt such a drill sargent like keenan and the sutters... I think they got tired of always being beaten on by the coach so the effort just died off like their playoff hopes....Mctavish might be just what they need in this department..

Agrred. That dressing room is probably very toxic due to the heavy-handed coaches in recent years. Lanny would be an interesting choice as GM. I was thinking perhaps Doug Risebrough.

Who is your pick for the Cup?

I am leaning to the pens to repeat, with honorable mentions to washington and chicago.. Sounds like the flames are going to stay with the sutter boys for another year...But if they get off to a bad start next year I think they will pull the plug on both of them quickly !

I'm hoping for a Chicago-NJ final, with the Hawks prevailing.

Do you think Boston would listen to a trade proposal of Iginla for the Leaf's 1st round draft choice? Would you make that trade?

They might listen and since it is such a high draft pick with two very good players up for grabs ,Yes i would take it because we are starting to see Iginla slow down a bit, whereas the high pick would ensure many years of high skilled play..And opens up a whole lot of cap space.. Would boston have the cap space to take Iginla ??

I see Boston has a salary cap hit projected at $40 million for next year, with five RFAs: http://www.hockeybuzz.com/cap-central/team.ph...
Odd though, Lucic, the one guy I'd like to see the Oilers scoop-up in a trade for perhaps two warm bodies and the 31st pick, isn't on the team's salary list.

I know I wouldn't want the Oilers to trade their first rounder for Jarome at this stage of his career.

Lucic is signed for three more years at four million a year with the last year at 4.25 million. I was thinking about Iginla after your last post and thought maybe the leafs could trade kaberle for him.although I dont know if calgary needs another defenseman, but the leafs could use another scorer..who knows.
