Im also an indians and browns fan.
but WOW the jackets may take the cake on futile drafting and free agent signings..........over 50% of teams make playoffs AND there is a salary cap so a decade of losing?????????kind of pathetic..........

Scott Howson is a far better GM than Doug MacLean. Doug MacLean did a lot of damage that is now cleaned up. I am sure MacLean would never have been able to sign Rick Nash long term. MacLean hired Hitch - Not the right coach for a young team. Howson cleaned up the mess, hired a good coach and staff and has made astute moves, both drafting and signing (Carrot Top stealing his shamelessly salary notwithstanding). Unfortunately, some newbie fans expect GMs to be able to make a trade for a sidney Crosby in return for a couple of picks and a bag of pucks. As info: That never happens.

I would rather be a CBJ fan right now than an Ottawa Senators fan. Talk about terrible management - Brian Murray makes Doug MacLean look like Sam Pollack (OK, Google him if you must). Ya gotta love one liners you can dance to, eh? That had rhythm to it.

If the CBJs had made it to the final in 2007, flamed out as the sens did in 5 games and now were now in the same rebuild the Sens are, this franchise might as well fold up the tent.

As a Red Wings fan in central Ohio, I am also disappointed the Jackets haven't been able to field a Cup contender by now. I have lots of friends that are Jackets fans, but they have been so mistreated by Jackets management that I don't feel like goading them about their team anymore.

Thankfully Jackets management continues to give us reasons, like the phallic-shaped mascot, to all have a good laugh over a beer or two.

Would I want the Red Wings to trade Hank Zetterberg for Nash? Absolutely not. Nash is a great player, but he plays on the wing where Zetterberg plays center. Center is the most important position in hockey, and any every successful team has at least one quality center.
If the Jackets had one and continued to play as well defensively as they have lately, they'd be playoff bound.
