taveras is no slam dunk. do some research. there are many scouts that question how his very average skating ability will play at the next level.

there are tons of guys that put up numbers like him in his league and turn out to be nothing. he's not that big, he's not nasty, questionable hustle at times, known to take shifts off, hang at the blueline, average skating ability

this guy may be nothing more than a smaller trent hunter

people are dreaming if you think this guy is the next crosby, malkin, ovechin, or kovalchuk - taveras is not even in their class

they already have a good nucleus of young fowards, with more coming - TAKE HEDMAN. besides streit, the rest of the defensemen su ck

If snow screws this draft up, I'm done with the Islanders. He won't pick Tavares and trade down or loose the draft pick. If they screw it up, we should all volunteer to help pack the Islanders up and move anywhere else.

Brian Burke has already stated he WANTS Tavares. If the Laffs can manage to trade up to third, switch picks and Toronto also includes Luke Schenn. Then the Isles draft Duschene. It will give them the shutdown D-man they should have drafted last season, and a possible sniper. Duschene is no more of a crap shoot than Tavares anyway.

I'm just being realistic... settle down..

If you were a player who could pick his team, would you really choose the Islanders?

I'm playing the devils advocate and this is just a hypothetical question...What if Snow swapped #1 picks with the Devils and got Parise in that deal or the same kind of deal with another team...an up and coming superstar. Would you all be crying then?
Do you poeple know anything..........John TAvares will make PArise look like TRent HUnter. THese types of players dont grow on trees. He has the potential to score 50 goals for the next 10 years.

CRazy........Tavares had better OHL stats than the guys you just names. He broke the record for goals in the OHL.......he led the World Junior Tournament in points........there is no risk in Tavares........he actaully reminds me of a GUy called Bossy........not big.....not fast........give him the puck its in the net.

Garth Snow is indicisive, incompetent and clueless and has no balls- He'd prefer the number two pick and not be left with any decision...Hedman or Tavares will go first and whoever goes first it's a no brainer for Snow-
Personally I would take Hedman- Back in the early 70's....before Trots, Gillies, Bossy they picked Denis Potvin- Stablize the defense ...this is what wins games- Hedman is a legitmate 10 on a scale from 1- 10- Tavares is a middle of road forward-
Tavares is a middle of the road forward? Ok if you want to think like that. Ive heard him compared to Speeza Vinny L and Crosby. But there all avg players right? I dont doubt you on Hedman however he will be a good player. But id still prefer JT.
