From Everything i've read da hann was garths guy with his 2nd pick. from my understanding and what i have read on many other board was that 2 other teams between 12-16 had there eyes on him. You know this is who they were aiming for since they already had a jersey for him and just moved up 4 spots to get him.

It's clear that Logan is upset that he doesn't have any insider contacts with the Isles. How long was Logan going on about the pick being Duchene? Lost a TON of credibility with that.
Completely disagree with you here. Credit Snow in keeping his choice a secret for the past 6 months. Logan took a gamble based on the limited info he received from his Isles contacts. He was wrong, big deal. So was I. I too was convinced he was selecting Duchene based on tons of reading and scouting reports.(PB, BD, Eklund, TSN, PuckDaddy, etc).

Logan-youve lost credibility with your Duchene pick.

And now you want to argue about Kassian -vs - de Haan. de Haan has great upside. Just read what Tavares said about his former teammate. Plus a mentor in Striet...Snow deserves credit for a good selection. Plus maybe there is bad blood between Tavares and Kassian after that hit?

Kassian wouldn't be "protecting" Tavares this year and probably not next year.
Drafting for the current team's needs is not a good idea. By the time these players are ready for the NHL the team's needs might be different. And enforcers are not difficult to come by via the AHL or scrap heap.
Drafting the best players, regardless of position or particular skill is the best way to go. Just fill the system with talent.

The Islanders have some guys who do battle quite well. No worries here Greg.

I am really happy with the draft last year and this year. I just hope that the Isles have the sense to address their two most glaring issues for THIS season during FA- a legit goalie and someone tugh enough to protect Tavares when the rest of the Atlantic division tries to knock his block off.

I agree that the Wrecker will only get better, he has a lot of promise enforcer-wise but he is not there yet. He is why I dont want the Isles to draft an enforcer type, they already have what will be a fine one in a few years. But he is still developing... the Isles needs someone NOW. Guerin and Comrie actually did everything they could to be tough, and even they are gone. All we have left is Jackman (who is tough but not an enforcer) and an up and comer in the Wrecker. Not good enough, I do not want to see Tavares spend his season on IR even more than Frans did last year. No way, no how.

Kassian will never be a 1st line fwd, maybe 3rd tops (not to mention he is the jerk that hurt tavares' shoulder in the first place, which would make for great team chemistry), if the islanders need someone to provide protection get Neil and add Komisarek long term on D.

Don't expect Islanders to make any splashes with UFA the ones they pick up will prolly be veterans on short deal budget contracts for they're easy to move at the deadline. Remember this time is in the begining stages of rebuilding they already have 2 mentor for their youth on offense and defense. They don't need to load talent around tavares just develop talent around him. This team won't be a contender for a few more years so why load up on long term big contracts. figure this team as well as any would know the down falls of that.

The Isles remain, without a legit "enforcer ". Too many little forwards and D-men, with no grit or size, to even the team out. They should have taken Kassian, simply because they are a smurf team. The only way to fix this, before it is too late, is to go get Orr, Neil, and Komisarick, TODAY! Yes get all 3, when free agency starts, in 20 minutes! The defense is old and small, the forward are all too small, with that stupid cookie cutter, typical Islander size of 5-10, 170 lbs, and midget teams NEVER WIN. Hey, can we get some MEN, on this team for a change ???
