With all of these papers folding and cutting back, how does a stiff like Simmons still keep his job? Oh right, he is a sports columnist, a fan with a crayon.

Don't trade that freakin #1 pick Garth. Take Tavares and reap the rewards. Pulllleeese don't pull a Milbury and trade away the future for someone else's garbage.

If Snow does not pick Taveras or he becomes a Leaf I will never watch the Islanders again after 30 years. That would be it for me. Too much BS for too long. You have an opportunity to fix all the destruction that Milbury caused just with the hype and hope factor that Taveras carries. If he doesn't pan out how can anyone blame you? I know I won't! Just make the easy, right, common sense choice Snow. It is a no brainer. We have all been through enough.

Even Garth knows what to do, draft Travares. I am so sick of Burke and the Toronto Media their attempts to tamper with the situation. They just need to shut their traps and listen on draft day when they hear with the first pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft the NYI select John Travares.

what does Snow mean ? " that he is inclined to keep the no.1 pick" If Snow blows this draft I swear I'm going to be a Devil's fan . 20 plus years of futility amd mediocrity has gotten me to this. An Islander fan since day 1, I can't put up with the losing . I've been true Blue, but this will be the last straw. Hope Snow does the right thing and turn this team around.

Excellent article, Greg! So- Mark Streit and Tavares have the same agent, too? What great news! Im certain that Pat Brisson is absolutely thrilled with the way this organization has treated Streit. How could he not be? Plus, I remember Streit said something about drafting a scorer- connection? That makes me feel better about things if Tavares is indeed the guy on the top of the Isles list... which IMO he probably is.

Ill say this, though- I am really tired of all these stupid threats that fans keep posting. "If the Isles ___ then Im no longer a fan" WTH is the point of telling fellow fans what a halfa**ed fickle fan you are? And if that isnt what youre trying to say, that is what youre saying without realizing it. Im not interested in your threats, to be honest.

Agreed with TMC,

Spare me the "I will threaten you with my fanhood, Garth!" crap. I wasn't alive for the glory years and yet I am still a fan of this team. You all want to try putting up with REAL "BS for too long?" become a detroit lions fan...

If i'm the Islanders I would not even listen to trade offer's!Last season Garth Snow made it known he wanted the kids to play! That said there's only one choice and that is John Tavares!!We need someone that can put the Islanders back on the map like Sidney Crosby did for the Penguins!!I'm sure Hedman is going tobe a good player but Taveres is going tobe a Star someone you can market!!He might become the key to the Lighthouse project!!

Mental Chick,
Are you too stupid to realize that no one cares what you think? You post the same crap everywhere, with you and your oversensitive feelings. WHO CARES?

We have not won ONE single round in 16 years and the circus like management gets tiresome after awhile. Not everyone's life revolves around the Islanders like yours does.

What does Burke think he has that's worth the number one pick?

And give the threats a break. Snow has done a decent job as GM. Milbury spent years destroying this team, and it's going to take some time to rebuild it.

Just because he traded down last year doesn't mean he'll do it again this year. Last year it made sense, and we did not have the number 1. This year, it won't make sense.

If you're a real fan of a team, you're a fan during the bad times and the good. Good riddance to the whining brats who will leave if they don't get their way.

Burke said that everyone on his team is available...except Luke Schenn.

Um, who exactly is ON the Leafs that's any good besides Schenn? Maybe we can get Jason Blake back.

The only possible trade I could see is Colorado offering the #3 overall pick & Milan Hejduk in return for the Isles #1 overall pick. Then again, Garth would probably take Marek Svatos instead.

The Leafs are a team that dont have a star player but have a bunch of complimentary players. No one but Schenn on that team is worth taking. The Isles just need to keep the pick even if they do not go with Tavres (which they will) then they get Hedman who is still a world class player.

Don't come to Long Island! Everyone who can leaves, young people can't afford to live here, the traffic sucks, the area is shit, and savage swarthy people are becoming more the norm than not.
Escape to North Carolina or upstate NY and live like good, decent Americans (you know what that means) and improve the quality of your life tenfold!

If you are going to move upstate stay away from montgomery county such as little towns such as canajoharie, fort plain, nelliston, sharon springs. I have never been so depressed in my life. There is no work to be found and it has gotten so bad that beechnut the baby food company for 100 years is moving. So this place is going to be a ghost town.
