This is all a smoke screen. Scouts of course are going to pick apart his game he has had the spotlight on him since he was 14. 19 points in 12 playoff games stinks? He may score 40 or 50 goals for you but no way near a franchise player? WTF does that mean? LOL!!!! I'd be happy with 30 or 40 for Christs Sakes!!!! 9 out of 10 scouts feel they would pick Taveras with the #1 and this yahoo puts Duchene in front of him along with Hedman. All of Canada's feelings towards Taveras has changed since we won the lottery it is pretty freaking obvious. I'm going to believe ISS before the FORMER Preds scout who got fired for his incompetence the guy is trying to sell subscriptions on his site by creating a stir it honestly didn't even deserved to be reported, thats what he wanted. Oh by the way he also said Crosby was going to be a flop!!!! If Snow falls for this crap he is clearly not suitable for the job. Hope he doesn't. Hope Taveras impresses him and the Wanger tonight because I've had enough with the ineptness of this orginization and the trying to re-invent the wheel mentality of Snow. Just make the smart, safe choice, its not hard.

This certainly isn't the first article to say this about Tavares. There was a similar story on TSN saying the same thing but regardless.. this team needs someone who can bury the puck, period. Draft Tavares.

Woodlief forgot to tell everyone he's a mapleleaf fan. Come on already Tavares gets the MVP and gold for Canada scores 19 pts in 10 playoff games and leads the OHL with 58 goals. Hopefully Charles and Garth are smarter than this reporter. As I said all along Garth and Charles draft Tavares he's produced and go out and trade to get no.2 or 3 so we can get Hedman as well you've stocked our prospect pool so we can use the picks and prospects or even a current player to grab the no,2 pick in draft as well. That would be a splash that help this franchise for next ten years. FInally!

Well that settles it. Taveras had no points tonight. Our GM (the Wanger) will not pick Taveras now and what was once a proud franchise will lose another huge chunk of their fan base. At least there will still be fans as oblivious as The Metal Chick left to follow the team to KC!!! Go Wang, Go Snow, and bye bye Islanders!

Woodlief and the Redline Report will try to always steer the best player in the draft to the Maple Leafs. They have done the same thiing with their rankings for years. They always favor the "well rounded" player ahead of the gifted scorer. They prefer defensive minded players over offensive.

Check the last 10 years and see how they have ranked some of the players who became offensive stars in this league. They got Crosby right but so did everyone else. Why the league GM's even pay attention to their magazine is beyond me. Each team has high paid amateur scouts and then they rely on a guy who never played who writes a newsletter.

Tavares is the surest thing in this draft. Hedman plays in a non-aggressive, finesse league in Sweden. Will he be able to handle the tough huge forwards in the NHL? He certainly isn't Chara. Only the Isles can blow this one. Remember Chara and the #1 pick (Spezza) for Yashin.

It's only because they've seen so much greatness from Tavares, that all they can do is nitpick and focus on his weaknesses. ISLANDERS, DRAFT JOHN TAVARES!!!

Islanders should try to trade for the number 2 pick also. Offer TB our first three picks after first overall this year, our first next year, and a prospect. Draft Tavares and Hedman. Dynasty.

Greg this was a great read. Illustrates that this may be a more difficult decision than we had initially thought. My concern with Hedman remains though- by the time the guy really comes into his own he may be an UFA. Still lean Tavares.

I personally wouldn't mind getting a guy like tavares a guy that could score between 40 and 50 goals!Brett Hull was a great player!!Putting Tavares between Bailey and Oposo that would be a great future first line!!! I think Woodlief is on toronto's payroll!

For a supposedly reputable scout this guy has shown embarrassing unprofessionalism. If any GM with his head screwed on straight with focus should immediately discredit this guy! Tavares display of entitlement and attitude stinks?? For whatever reason that sounds personal agenda motivated if you ask me. This crap about John being useless if he doesn't score indicates to me this guy hasn't been watching, only wishing(He fails??). It has always been said,Tavares is quite responsible in his own zone and effective on a PK unit. Evaluating his skating as not being special shouldn't be construed as in adequate. He is quite strong on his skates and has Bossy(another stereotyped unspectacular skater) like quick feet. This is the same John Tavares who has an extraordinary four year body of work. His status as a potential difference maker shouldn't disappear after a few pointless games due to being triple teamed! Hopefully Garth doesn't buy this crap and realizes that when the best are shadowed they may come up empty on the scoresheet. Just to add,I wouldn't put it past some of these influential so called experts to accept some vigorish from some of these unscrupulous GM'S!

2 players dont make a dynasty. I think you have to draft Tavares. He is the consensus #1 pick and has been so for a year now. In fact, last year people stated that he was better than stamkos and would have been taken first if he was eligible. Lets just take Tavares, move up in the 1st round, draft well throughout and call it a good day!

He doesn't really have any weaknesses. This guy wants one to perceive unspectacular skating ability as weak! John's attention to play in his own zone is solid,as is his penalty killing. Again he gives you the BS that if Tavares isn't scoring he gives you nothing! I want him on the ice in orange and white. Even when not scoring he will give the defense and goaltenders something to think about! Just draft Tavares and ignore the sensationist nonsense!

This hack immediately loses credibility when describing Hull a one dimensional bad influence in the dressing room and loser!! It sure looks as though he has an interest in what the Isles are going to do or not do! Snow MUST pay him no mind whatsoever!!!!!

Typical Canadien propaganda. Must be paid by Burke and the Toronto MLs to lower his stock in hopes that they can nab JT at 2 or 3. Don't fall for it Garth, JT is the real deal!!

Funny how he derates JT for his recent playoff performance but gives VH the heads up even though he only had a lackluster performance at the World Juniors
