"We held Josh Bailey in higher regard than what others did last year. Our focus was to select a player who could help us win the Stanley Cup.''
WTF DO SNOW,JANKOWSKI AND WANG KNOW ABOUT WINNING STANLEY CUPS?

You can say that about many franchises...so whats your point?

Also Bailey played well for a teenager playing against men. He had a good second half of the season.

Its very easy for everyone to be "monday morning quarterbacks". I happen to agree with you, bailey had a good second half. He has tremendous hands and can pass as good as many in the league can. He's only going to get better. I see him and Okposo being a great one two punch for many years. Hopefully they add Tavares to that mix, and now the isles have a real first line, which they havent had since 1993.

Kassian may go in the top 10 but I doubt it. No way Moore can be in the top 10. Why did you pick those two guys? If you mentioned Kulikov or Paajarvi your trading up might have made sense. And the first pick has to be Tavares.
No one wanted to draft Bossy because he was a one way player and didn't play defense, was too small, didn't hit, played in the Quebec junior league etc. The Isles did and they immediately had a 50 goal scorer.
Tavares has broken all of Gretzky's goal scoring records, he is the most prolific goal scorer in junior hockey history and the Isles have no one to put the puck in the net. Snow should have already announced that he will be drafting Tavares and he should be negotiating a contract with him.
This is so typical of the Isles stupidity for the past 25 years. Hedman is a big athletic defenseman but he is not Orr or Potvin. There is no choice between a defenseman and a poor goal scorer like Tavares for a team like the Isles.
The four cup teams defensemen other than Potvin were all drafted in the late rounds. Persson, Jonsson, Langevin, Morrow, Lane. You can always find talented defensemen and goaltenders below the third round. For a team like the Isles the first three rounds of this draft must be devoted to goal scorers starting with Tavares. If the Isles want to continue their laughing stock reputation they will go with Hedman. There is not a G.M. in the league who wouldn't take Tavares with the first pick.
And with the second first rounder they should take the best goal scorer still on the board. Someone will drop through to pick # 26. There are many talented offensive players in this draft.
Garth, if you read these comments and I hope you do to get a feeling for the passion of the Islander fan base, there will be a riot at the draft party if you don't draft Tavares.
My four season tickets are awaiting renewal. I cannot endure another season without a goal scorer. After all, we go to the games to see the Islanders win. They can't without someone to put the puck in the net.
The only reason Snow hasnt named Tavares as the Isles #1 pick is to bring attention to the Islander organization. Since the end of the Stanley Cup finals the Isles have been the talk of the NHL. Good or bad. As for the rest. Go for the offense. Plenty of "D" to be had in the 2nd and 3rd rd. I remember those good old days to.

Snow is being smart on not stating
that he is taking Tavares before the
draft. People are talking about the
Isles. That is good for the org.
People have Snow and Dinkelberry
mixed up. It was Dinkelberry that
took DP with the 1st pick and traded
away Loungo. Snow brought in Striet
and Weight. I'm not sure who Snow
will take but I think he will take
Tavares, to much up side.
Also by Snow not making a statement
on who he is taking until the draft
he is keeping all the other GM'S
thinking. What would it take to move
up to draft Tavares. A smart GM keeps
all options open.

I look forward to Friday night..

Another reason snow may not be saying who he's gonna take is if he takes JT and has 20k fans at NVMC he'll also 20k sales reps blocking the doors pushing season tickets and packages to a bunch of happy fans riding a high.

I don't want the Isles to trade up
from #26 I would like the isles to
have 5 out of the 1st 56 picks.
We can grab a free agent d-man.
Bouweester will be unless he gets
traded on draft day. He would look
good in orange and blue.

I will be having my own draft party
tomorrow night.
I hope that snow picks JT.

"Im going to post this for a third straight time, in the hopes (doubtful) that you might actually read it.
JOHN TAVARES BROKE WAYNE GRETZKYS ALL TIME SCORING RECORD IN THE OHL. "

OHL Does NOT equal NHL. All bundy scored 4 touchdowns in one game as well remember?

Snow, DO NOT bow to pressure. Pick the one who will help the most. Sure tavares can score, but with a defense that sucks and a goalie that is more fragile than a pane of glass, you NEED a big d man. Please, let's try to forget the milbury years and actually draft someone good and KEEP THEM!!!

I wouldn't mind Taveras or Duschesne...but I say to hell with what the fans are crying for...pick hedman

Look, whatever happens I will not abandon the isles. I have loved and supported them for 33 years, through the darkest days of this franchise (MALONEY AS GM, MILBURY AS GM, The Muller trade, The yashin fiasco, a thousand more) and whoever they pick i will be happy, be it hedman, duschesne, or even taveras. As long as they don't trade away the pick or something stupid like that or start trading away good young talent ala milbury we will EVENTUALLY be okay. Yeah, I am upset at the islanders MANAGMENT for the past, oh i dunno, 15 years or so...but what can I do? is it the fans fault they have sucked for so long? do you blame people for not going? ESPECIALLY since democrats are destroying our economy?

I don't remember who posted it but i agree that if the pick is anyone other than JT, all the booing that ensues...probably NOT good for whoever the pick is. Look, we are NOT the rangers or the yankees. We can't overpay for useless talent. Be happy we have the first pick, cheer it on and let's hope we can turn this thing around and put the milbury years behind us.

however that being said, I don't want to see my Isles in kansas City...BUT..I must admit a riot would be F!@#$%^&* awesome and get some attention to the island for once instead of on the new york edmonton oilers...i mean rangers...one since 40!

HOLY SH@T I can't wait until friday night to see what happens!

I hope they draft hedman, and trade one of those other picks for a decent second line winger..or maybe..nah..heatly? would he come to the island? i doubt it but ya never know. Let the maple queefs have tavares. If DP ACTUALLY gets healthy..and hedman pans out...bailey & okposo develope, streit sticks around...that's a pretty good start in my book....
