Breather? Did somebody say breather? That's for sissies! The kids ain't no sissies! They don't need no stinkin' breather!

Seriously, I hadn't thought about it, but, that may just be what I was seeing as a letdown. It would be great if that's all that's taking them a little off their game.

Of course, not being 'roid types, a little cumulative fatigue should be expected. I choose to think of it as sandbagging for the second half of the season ;-)!

You know, kids can get wound up with a simple sugar high. Hey, kids, how about some chunky monkey?

Chris , great the hawks have a young team . Yes , they could use some "home" games . Do you think their season depends on after the all star break when they have eight in a row on the road and 12 out of 14 on the road in that stretch ?

It's over. 2 and 4 since playing in Wrigley field and crawling in bed with the Cubs. They lost the game before that too. Hook up with the Cubs...and it's over.

By the way...they're a great team, but too small. When the coach says "we have team toughness" that means they're not tough enough.

Actually they are 3 and 3 since Wrigley. I think that Coach Q is tinkering with the lines too much. The loss in Colorado should not have happened. Nashville, they didn't show up that game. Now they have a few home games then are out on the road. They will be fine, every team goes thru a little dry spell.

Please, enough with the "Wrigley curse"! It's the retard chokers who wear the "C" on their hats that are the problem, not the building.

If the Hawks go 100 yrs without winning the Cup then bring up the Wrigley curse...By that time we'll all be pushing daisies..

It's mid January and the pattern has been set. This team will be fine and give us some nice hockey into the spring. Nothing like those first warm days and the Blackhawks are still playing. It's been a while, but I think we are going to experience it. GO HAWKS!

I got a bad feeling in my gut that when this long road stretch after the break is over we'll have seen the standings tighten up considerably and that by the end of the regular season we will have sweated out just making the playoffs.

their tired? this team has played less games then anyone. its not even half over and people say they are tired. they already had two 4 or 5 day stretchges where they didnt even play. these guys dont even play 60 min. a night and there tired. i cannot accept that excuse when they are paid what they get. i make 10 bucks an hour and i cannot use that excuse or any other why im not performing at work. thats another reason why i hate football. those guys get paid to play 8 hours in a season and their the biggest babies alot of the time. im tired of excuses from pro athletes whos only job is to not party for 6 months and perform on ONE nite only to get your team a win. if they are tired maybe its coach Q with his high intensity practices thats sapping them. maybe thats why his teams stink in the playoffs year after year. but these are supposed to be highly conditioned athletes. maybe when the team went to mcdonalds a month ago it really threw off the teams conditioning regimen. look i can make fantastic excuses as well as anybody. if i here toews say one more time that they thought it would be easy or they just werent ready to play im gonna be mad. 1 game in 10 maybe. not 3 out of the last 6 games. unacceptable. remember bell,calder,arnason? they showed up at every game with a pail and a lunch box,or is it tool box?{sarcasm}

I agree with Chico17 that we have seen enough that it's not presumptuous to talk about Blackhawk hockey in April. I also have the same fear Will has, that they'd better grown some leading up to and during this road trip. The mechanical rabbit has opened up too much space, so it's only natural to start looking back at the dogs behind you. Somebody (Anaheim, Minnesota, Vancouver?) is going to put together a second half and challenge for the 4 spot. Every once in a while the Hawks just don't show up. That habit could knock them backwards on this road trip. This is not a new thing with them (last year, getting shutout in Columbus late in year with the 8 spot on the line). I don't know what it's like to play a season in the NHL, with back to back games, the travel, ect..., but I find it unacceptable for a team to not show up for a game. Maybe I'm just an overly demanding pr@#k, but I've watch alot of Detroit's games this year and, yeah, I've seen them outplayed, but I've never seen them look like the Hawks did Saturday in Nashville. The talent is there, and I believe they've crossed that "love to win AND hate to lose" threshold, but to me the question now becomes "how MUCH do they hate to lose?"
It's gonna be fun.
Does anyone know 1 across in the latest Hockey News crossword puzzle?

Sure the Talent's their but you still need to work for 60 minutes...Is that too much to ask? I'm not crazy about the tired excuse either didn't this team have a couple of 5 or 6 day breaks? Of course the playoff race will tighten up that's why it's important to get as many points as you can early...

Starting after the first Detroit loss I have been saying 2 things, and many others here say the same thing. You must play 60 minutes of hockey and you have to be physical. Too often I see bad passes, or dumping the puck. That is not playing 60 minutes of hockey when you are dumping the puck. When you have the PP and can't seem to get anything going other than a few passes. Not winning the majority of faceoffs. Or take stupid penalities. They need to focus on the little things, that is what the Detroit's and Sharks do. I want to see how they come out tomorrow night, and on Friday night.

They have the talent to win, we have seen the offensive numbers. We have seen the defense shut down the other team. I want to see how this team plays going into the All-Star break, that will give me an idea on how they are going to play during that long road trip.

You're completely missing the point. The morons who chant "Detroit sucks" when the Wings posess THE cup are now going to change their minds because you won the Winter Classic?

Wow, we go from talking about the Hawks back to the Winter Classic. I love how some clown from MI will say who sucks now. Looking at the NHL's website and the Power rankings show the Hawks sitting pretty good. 4th seed over all and top 1o in the power rankings and she says the Hawks suck?? Wow this is crazy.
