Where does the Trib recruit these "reporters?" I've read stories written by 12 year olds that are better than this. "Comeback makes it a series" - as if they lost 2 on the road the series was over? The Hawks had a sluggish first period, but apparently to this genius that means they were doomed for the series.
"Unlike Game 1, when their three-goal third-period comeback was too little and too late" - what? Too little, too late - the Hawks tied the game and it was far from too late - it was a great finish to Game 1. I guess when you are BK you have to buy "reporters" on the cheap.

I totally agree with Ring's comments. Most of the content in the writer's "story" focused on Game 1. HELLO...they had a huge win Saturday night. Can we take it game by game rather than reaching back and making a ridiculous statement like the comeback in Game 1 being too little too late. The next article will probably focus on the Calgary series. And by the way, Tribune. How about some headlines for a WINNING team rather than a losing basketball team.

Amen to the Bulls comments. The local papers and radios spend 90% of their time yapping about the Bulls and 10% of their time on the Hawks. This is the youngest team in the NHL and they are doing great!!! Chicago used to be a Hawks town and it will be again and the stupid local sports dopes will have no choice but to talk about them.

Hawks have a fabulous season underway. So do the Canuck's. Let's see a hard fought series.

Yeah, we scored 5 unanswered goals in a playoff game for cryin' out loud. The Vancouver media is brutally honest in their coverage and can be ruthless on their guys. Chicago media coverage is indifferent. Don't let it bother you, keep cheering for the Hawks.
Can't wait for Tuesday night!

Even though I am a Canucks fan, I have to agree with the comments above. Incredibly shoddy reporting on an excellent Chicago game. I don't know about the reporter on this "story" but, I for one, am seeing precisely what I expected to. The Chicago Black Hawks did not receive an invitation to the playoffs - they worked their butts off and took a playoff spot! They are a young, exciting team to watch and I don't think any Canuck or fan takes them lightly. This is going to be a hard fought series. The only down side is that whoever wins is going to be pooped for the third round.

The media coverage will never be what we would like to see. There are certain attitudes of the locals around here (which are in turn reflected in the media) that consider hockey to be a "low brow" type of entertainment - a "blue collar" thing if you will.

The Blackhawks once owned this town, but I seriously doubt the current PC media will ever give them the type of coverage they once had. Its fashionable to be a Bulls or a Cubs fan but not a Blackhawk/NHL fan.

No matter to us hockey fans, though. I'm not concerned with the whole "image" thing, and I enjoy NHL hockey regardless of what the local mindset may be.
