Full story: Newsday 11
In 1995, the Islanders made defenseman Wade Redden the second overall pick in the NHL entry draft, but he never played a game for them. Read more

Hi Steve, just a tidbit ... Redden did play in a game for the Isles _ but it was preseason. I was there and I liked what I saw. Obviously it was one of the many blunders Mike Milbury made as GM.

Trading Redden for Berard was no blunder. Running Berard out of town because he didn't like his agent and trading him to Toronto for NOTHING was a huge mistake.

If I remember correctly Mike "the Hockey genius" felt Redden wasn't tough enough thus the trade. I guess Redden didn't know how to climb into the stands and make use of a shoe.

"In our opinion, he's the best first-passer in the game today," Sather said

I think Sather is on crack.$6.5 million for SIX god damn years for this guy. I think he barely cracked the 40 point barrier last year. Leetch must be looking at the salaries these guys are getting and shaking his head in disbelief.

This deal for Redden is a joke. The rangers are falling back into their old ways after 2 years of promise. How could they possibly give this guy that much much.

Good Luck Reds, BTW, the corner of 92nd and 12th is the best place on Manhattan to find your beak buddy.

Wade Redden is not going to make a diference to a lackluster defense. The Ranagers will still get beat by the Bridgeport sound tigers oh I mean New York Isles this season. I am sickof all you paris hilton ranager fans who have the stanley cup parade route planned. If Naslund and Zherdev don't produce this team is going to blow and Henrik is no Broduer or Roy. You need a few stanley cup rings to be in there company. Ranagers suck

YOU Guys are on crack! Who would you have gone after in the ufa defenseman market? You would be crying about paying Brian Campbell, right? Orpik we went after, but he took a homer discount. Redden, for all the terrible press he gets is a solid first-pair defenseman. Ottawa has a ton of problems, and Redden played scapegoat for what has been a couple of years of total dysfunction on that team. What defenseman would look good in front of that revolving goalie carousel?! Players of Redden's caliber do not just become chumps overnight. He still has alot in the tank... In two years, teams will be paying much more for ufa d-men of lesser talent, that is the way the market is... With all of our improved team speed, and younger legs, Redden's passing and playmaking ability will be a big positive. Breakout passes to gomez w/ zherdev blazing up the wing!!! I, alone albeit, am happy...

Hey, I hope Redden works out, but I think its silly to sign a d-man in decline to $6.5 a year for 6 years. I think Rangers fans have seen enough money thrown at UFA's.

Hey, moron. Who's talking about the Rangers winning the stanley cup ? You must be hearing and seeing things.

By the way, who the hell is "Brad Delgarano" ? Are you trying to say that you are Brad Delgarno, the Islander who got his face punched in ? I'd say thats pretty accurate, considering you are hearing things.
