Chicago Blackhawks have raised expectations

The Daily Herald says Sharp's injury is a laceration above the knee, with some tendon damage.
Not good news, as connective tissue is relatively slow to heal.
That means an opportunity for others to step up and contribute some more scoring.

The excitement and drama is building. My goal has long been to get into the second round against the Wings or Sharks and make things interesting, take to a game six or seven and maybe just maybe knock them off. They can definitely do that, especially when:
They're playing for each other!
Let's Go Hawks!

Thin The Herd, I read that too, makes you wonder why the Herald knows that but the Tribune doesn't (or at least print it). I really do not like that new rule of not telling what the actual injury is. It would be nice if the NHL would think about the fans on that one.
For the article, I think that every Hawks fan knows that the Hawks were disappointed that they did not beat the BJ's and get home ice wrapped up at home. To me I am thrilled that they made the playoffs and are in the top 4 seeds. Everyone has their expectations raised this year, me included. I think that if they play the way they did last week they will go far. Someone is going to have to take Sharps spot and really step up, could it be Skille??

Brouwer, Burish, Eager, Bolland, Ladd (great passer) and to some extent Versteeg have been flying under the radar. They will step up and fill holes, but, maybe not 'til the playoffs.
Hjalmarsson is the real deal. I love kids that have the gumption to take the opportunities, they are given, and run with them. I have no idea what his +/- is, but it has to be good. I'd like to see all the defenseman get scoring chances, but, it would be nice to have him reward himself with a game winning goal.
The only thing that makes me just a little bit nervous, is the time lapse to the next game after a disappointing loss. I figure the kids have ramped up their discipline, in that regard, and won't be too tight, but, again, we haven't been in this territory for so very long, who knows. "Q" does!
Assume you're going to sweep us, Deadwings. It's just the sort of thing that makes the kids crazy. In our case, making the kids crazy is a GOOD thing, and ...
"They're OUR kids, damnit!"

Let's hope for a victory on Saturday against the Wings! I want us to lock up home ice!

Wings have nothing to play for in the standings so I fully expect the Hawks to come out hard Saturday and get at least one point to wrap this up. Edmonton may clinch it for us tonight with a regulation or overtime win against Calgary but it would still be nice to take it to the Wings!
