Thw Hawks still have one of the best defense's in the league. Look they have Campbell, and Keith both All stars. Then They have Sopel, Barker, Seabrook, Hendry, and Hjalmarrson. Hendry and Hjalmarrson looked pretty good last year. So losing Wiz for a few months isn't that bad, I just really like Wiz.

Actually about 80% of ACL surgery's are successful. I really hope he is like Adams and makes a full recovery quick. I really like Wiz, he is a great player for the Hawks and is a tough guy. I hate to see that he got hurt in the knee again. There is a story in the Daily Herald today and it shows that Tallon is not against resigning Williams, he needs to pull off a trade to get under the cap. I would like to see them re-sign Williams. Could you imagine 2 Q-backs for the PP. That could be a great combo on the PP. Williams had a really nice sniper shot on him and I remember last year how they really missed him when he was hurt.
I thought Williams was having a real good year 'til he got hurt. I thought when he came back he wasn't 100%. Guys that can bury their chances consistently are hard to come by. That's why I so want Havlat to come back, and stay, healthy. You gotta have a legit 2nd unit on the PP anyway.

I'll say this even though the Hawks are at the cap or a little over they could still sign players if they want..TB is way over and they're still signing players. Now they are trying to move Dan Boyle and his 6+M yr contract and he has a no trade ...Of course Tallon would have too do some work with the roster and that would come back to how creative can you be..Just saying..

Here is what was written in the Daily Herald:

While the Hawks' roster is considerably better today than it was in April when the season ended, Tallon hopes to get a few more things accomplished before training camp, likely via trades.

Tallon has assets from which to deal from strength now, starting in goal and on defense. There's still a chance the Hawks would listen to offers for Khabibulin despite Tallon's claims that he wants Khabibulin and Huet to share the goaltending duties next season.

Khabibulin might be easier to trade now because he is entering the final year of his $27 million contract.

"We're not satisfied," Tallon said. "We've still got some tweaking to do."

Even though the defense looks solid with Campbell, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Brent Sopel, James Wisniewski, Cam Barker and Jordan Hendry, it might look different come training camp.

"We'd still like to add some physicality back there," Tallon said.

This was in yesterdays article:

Even though the Hawks now are a few million over the NHL's $56.7 million salary cap, Tallon hasn't closed the door on re-signing unrestricted free agents Jason Williams and Kevyn Adams provided he can move another player or two via trade.

"We're capped out now," said Tallon, who has no money left at the moment to pursue free agents. "A lot depends on if we make a trade or two in the next few days to free up some space.

"We're still talking (to Williams). We think Willy and Campbell would be awesome at the points on the power play."

I am just trying to stay on top of what they are doing. I still wish they could have signed Hossa, but that was not in the cards. So Tony, what do you think about th Hawks going into this next season with the team they have so far?

The goaltending and the defense are solid.Rather weak at center.Still small upfront but I still expect this team to make the playoffs...Just a quick analysis Tim...

Tony my thought's are the same. I was really hoping that they would deal Khabby, get rid of him and that big $$ contract. Then go out and sign a #1 or even a #2 center. If we had that we would be very good. I anticipate making the playoffs, and having a strong year. How deep they go in the playoffs I can's say so far. Dallas added some good pieces, San Jose lost some and JR is getting older, not sure how he is going to help them. Colorado and MN looks like they are alittle weaker, whereas the Oilers got stronger same as Detroit. So other than Detroit I think the west is pretty open to the Hawks doing very well.
