Hawks' lack of fire could prove costly

Loaded with anticipation for the Blackhawks ' biggest game of the season, fans arrived early, and a line stretched down Madison Street an hour 45 minutes before the puck was dropped Sunday night. Full Story

No one was going to the net. If you do not screen Luongo or tap a rebound you are going to get shut out. If you are going to take penalties; take them leveling out the Sedin twins...

If you try to "take out the Sedins" you will have the whole team to deal with! Just try it! from a Canuck Fan!

Youth is a factor.....but so is intensity and that really shouldn't be related to youth. But lack of experience does play a role whether we like it or not.

Not many teams go from a laughingstock to a Cup winner in a year or two. Give the Hawks credit for finally rejoining the NHL. Step two is making the playoffs (tickets on sale today at 10:00!!). We'll see what happens once the playoffs start but more than likely the team is a year or two away from truly challenging for the beloved Cup.

I really want to say something here, but I refuse to respond to 15 year olds who are into astrology, other than to say I have no doubt the Hawks would have to deal with the whole Canuck's team if they try to "take out" the Sedin's. Boys quite often are protective of their sisters.

Age is overrated. That to me is a cop out. The Blackhawks have played how many games? Have 91 points. You don't need to be a certain age to have intensity and be prepared to play. Just the fear of losing that game should motivate you to play hard. That happens on any age level. Old or young you should be ready to go.

While the Hawks weren't great, they had their chances. The worst thing was that Vancouver has exactly one scoring line, the Sedin brothers. Is it too much to ask Quenneville to shadow that line hard? They got the first three goals. A smart team will take them out of the mix and dare the rest of Vanc.'s offense to score-which they didn't. The last 5 on 3 didn't matter at that point.

Hey Aries, yeah, it was your night. Like I said, a smart team, such as the Sharks, big, tough and skilled, won't let the Sedins have too much space or fun. Be honest.

Wow...We are getting ripped by Cannuck fans! What exactly is a Cannuck and does it have to do with roadkill and eating habits of the Northwest, I wonder?

Good news for the Sedin's eharmony is now offering "alternative sex" dating match ups. Good luck with that and I hope jealuosy is not in your personaltiy

Kuc, come on. You're on the sky is falling bandwagon too? I can't remember ever seeing so much negative reaction from a single REGULAR SEASON game. Sheesh! Get over it, it was one game, and personally, I think it could serve as a major learning experience for this team.

Southside Boy - I think I partially agree with you about constantly hearing about how this is such a young team. Sure it plays a factor, but I, too am getting a little sick of hearing it (granted you don't hear it often as an excuse from the players themselves) and perhaps they are using it as a bit of a cop-out. That is why I liked the quote from Burish at the end of the article.

Mr. Kuc,

The lined that formed outside the UC an hour and 45 minutes before the game was due to the Kane bobblehead giveaway not the anticipation of the game verus the Canucks. They could have been playing New Trier Green and there still would have been a line for the bobbleheads.

Age is not a factor I agree, for those who are following hockey here, look at the 86 Montreal Cup, they had a lot of rookies on their team. Having said that, I hope they win tonight.

If I were Keith I would have blasted Burrows in the face as things were settling down and were skating away.
Love the line by Keith saying hes never had his hair pulled, even by his little sister.
Burrows...hang your head in embarrased shame.
My ex is an Aeris and she was a whiny loud mouth as well. Very shrill.

Hockey coverage in this town is a joke! From the 10 minute pregame on WGN radio to this article implying the line outside the UC prior to the game Sunday was because of "anticipation". Did this clown even go to the game? The reason for the line was the Patrick Kane bobble-head giveaway.

Chris, you're a joke.

LET'S GO!!!

Forget about the reasons! This is the time we play for! Be Hawks and fly like you have for this entire successful season! No more time for what's wrong, forget about it and play for what is right- you are young, overachieving studs on the cusp of greatness. Stick together and DARE them to beat you. The big picture is DYNASTY.

Enough of this crap already. The Hawks lost one game and people are acting like the sky is falling. The Hawks are going to make the playoffs for the first time since 2002 and we have a bright future in front of us and we are selling out every game. Why is everyone freaking out. Come on, and to the Canucks fans still trolling here, the Sundin twins will get their heads knocked around when the playoffs start. At least the Hawks don't have a player on their team that pulls another mans hair during a fight. What a wimp, he should be thrown out of the NHL.

Next year the Hawks are going to be in the playoffs again and where will the Canucks be?? Probably not in it. There is a game tonight I am going to be watching them and hoping they change the way they start the game.

You must be an ignornant SOB aren't you. The Canucks have a player on it that pulls hair, are you proud of that. The season series was split, so how does that show the Canucks are that great. The economy has nothing to do with hockey, grow up you are one pathetic loser. Wait for the playoffs to start, we will see after the first series what happens.

Yyyeehh, what S313 said! ;-)(I'm embarrassing myself, aren't I?)

I like the "kids" aspect of the Hawks, but I'm not suggesting that anything that happens is necessarily because of it. On the other hand, it is virgin territory for most of them and the lessons come hard without a precedent to offset them. That's where "Q" comes in. I do notice that they take it real hard when they look as bad as they did Sunday night. It won't be repeated.

Note that I'm not put off my hair-brained idea, that maybe there was a method to their madness, in looking so ineffectual, against a potential first round opponent.

dannyboy: Sissy Vancouver style hockey! You brag about being Canadien. Canadien is Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and the Eastern most Provinces. British Columbia and especially Vancouver is considered Washington state and has the least knowledgable fans in Canada. You are Canada in name only. You especially prove my point. Minnesota, Wisconsin, N.Y., Michigan and Massachusettes are much much more hockey hotbeds than vancouver. You are Canada in name only. Talking about specific hockey teams is one thing, but to think you know the game of hockey is a joke. Go enjoy your foggy, cloudy, depressing Washington state weather. You are not really Canadien. You need to go east to find Canada. See you sissyboy.
