He has 56.8M reasons to committ...Well the main focuse was to get that PP QB and we got the best that's out their. I'm a little concerned that we didn't upgrade the top six forward area and get an enforcer type player. It's still early though and maybe a trade or two will transpire...

Pleasantly surprised by the Huet signing. I never felt I could completely trust Khabi. Is anybody else iffy about Campbell? He was called out by damn near everybody for shrinking when the playoff intensity kicked into high. I'm looking forward to watching him for a full season to see what he brings other than points.
Hats off to the Hawks for stoking the buzz!

The only thing i'm iffy about is the length of the deal. Your right BFM he didn't impress in the playoffs but that whole Shark team dissapeared for the most part.

I love the Campbell signing, but I can't see Huet and Khabibulin as a tandem. that keeps Crawford down, and he needs to be in the Show. I think we'll see Khabibulin moved, finally.

I love the signings but am also worried about the length of the contract for Campbell. Good to see Tallon making a move.

Does this make keeping Havlat more likely?

Which available forwards do you like?

HOW ABOUT THEM APPLES, KIDDIES!

YES!

Brian has not played in an inspired environment where he was thrown into an evolving juggernaut, LIKE THE HAWKS. I think he will surpass anything he has done before, surrounded and supporting this bunch.(yeh, I know, siss-boom-bah)

I think that our goalie is already on board, but I don't yet know who he is.

There is more to come, but this is a real break from that which has gone on before.

I can't believe what is happening.

Thanks Rockie.

Signing Huet is fine, IF you move Bulin. Spending 12 mil a year on two goaltenders is ubsurd....

Campbell signing was big. I'm not worried about the length of the contract because Campbell is still improving his game, we got him in his prime and on the way up to being one of the premier defensemen in the league.

Overlooked is the fact that we got a 2nd round pick for Rene Bourque. I think this is good move by Dale. To put it into perspective, we only got a 4th rounder for Marty Lapointe, and I feel Bourque is an average at-best player.

Kristian Husselius, Brendon Morrison, and Marcus Nahslund still on the big board.

Keep the feet moving boys! The Blackhawk organization and many fans wanted Campbell. We have him now. No doubt he will help. A tandem of Habby and Huet is possible. Can the two goalies live with that? Another season of development won't hurt Crawford. I doubt many teams will be that interested in Habby and he is in the last season of his contract. I put my money on both of them in camp and the season opening with them both. The Hawks have some nice goalies in the pipeline just in case.

From what I read the Hawks could've moved Bulin to the Kings for a second rounder...

I did hear something about a Kings deal. I believe we could have gotten more back then a second rounder, and perhaps the reason Tallon didn't pull the trigger?

I think it is a great signing, many teams wanted Campbell and yet the Hawks got him. He along with Keith, and Sopel will give us a great D. The goalie situation is also great, Huet was the main reason Washington made the playoffs last year. With him and Khabby they will make a great team. Crawford showed he is not ready when the Ice Hogs were in the playoffs, he still needs some more time. And with Khabby being in a contract year they will either not resign him or move him by the deadline and get a player to take them to the finals. I am also so happy they finally got rid of Bourque. I honestly believe that the Hawks are a much better team today than they were last week. I want to see what these guys can do.

Could be the case Bryan. Maybe Tallon feels he can get a top six forward in return instead of a draft choice.I was just looking at the fact that you could free up 6.7M and maybe go after another FA...

One thing about Campbell and how he was during the playoffs for San Jose. After watching the series he was not the only player that had a bad series. Most of the Sharks were not in those games. I was critical of Campbell then but you have to look at the numbers he puts up year after year and what he brings to the table. Having one bad series on a team that he was traded to during the deadline was tough. I have a feeling he is going to shine in Chicago.

Bryan - I think we got way too much for Bourque, he is not worth a 2nd round pick but I will take it for that guy. Let Calgary deal with him. What I don't get is the Hawks are 3 million over the cap according to the NHL, is that amount going up or do they have to cut some $$.

I believe we are right at the line if not over. You have to think they will let K. Adams walk, and will probably let some of the other vets go as well. I don't see Yanic returning now, and I still believe Bulin gets dealt. To free up Bulin's money might mean getting a big forward like Morrison in Free agency, or trading for a touted prospect. Either way, I'm not thrilled with this "Tandem."

I do see where Tallon is coming from though with Huet. He wanted to get a goalie so Bulin's contract won't be an issue during the season, and also wanted to build a bridge for all these young goaltenders in the system. You figure Bulin will be gone by, at the latest, trade deadline, with Huet/Crawford the following year.

The Hawks will have to make a deal for probably draft picks to get under the cap.I think they have untill one week before the season opens to do so. Should be done way before then.

Bryan, you are right they are not going to bring back Yanic. Add to that list Zuyzen, and Williams, and probably Adams as well. I still think that they are going to keep Khabby for at least the short time. Crawford had his moments but he did not do so well in the playoffs and that might be a factor. I still want to see the Hawks pick up a good veteran forward. Also watch Havlat, this is his contract year and I bet that he is going to stay healthy and be very productive.

Question for everyone - Do you believe the Hawks are finished with signing FA's? I think they are not done yet.

They're finished for now because they don't have the room and Tallon mentioned that in one of the papers...

I want to see an enforcer(Laraque)type player added.
