The loss did not drop the Isles to 4th place. They were already in that position before the Flyers game.

Why oh why must Newsdays Headlines often seem so flippin NEGATIVE???

You know, there are people who don't follow the Isles loyally or read entire articles all the time. When they see things like this, they are logically going to assume that the Islanders have been doing poorly- which is NOT the case! They might not even bother reading the article (or going to the games!) if things are being painted out to be poorer than they actually are.

The Isles are 500 this month so far, and that is even WITH Radek out the whole time AND Brendan Witt missing as of late, as well.

Yes I know that you can call it a "home skid" and justify your headline, but your headline didnt specify that, now did it? The fact that this team is not on a losing streak right now is not made clear in your headline. They have lost a total of one game in a row.

Additionally, you mention how many shots the Isles have given up in the last TWO games, then describe the one that was the loss. Well if youre going to mention the TWO games, how about the fact that the other one was a WIN? Again with only talking about the negative!

Oh- and like Jack just pointed out, you got that last part regarding the "drop" in place wrong, as well. Their standings in the division did not change at all with that loss.

This team lost a bad game to the Flyers, Ill certainly give you that- especially since you felt such a need to emphasize it! But the fact is that they have yet to have a month this entire season where they werent 500 or better. They are also STILL in a playoff spot- where they have been pretty much all season. That fact alone has enormously exceeded ALL expectations.

Seriously- I really do expect more from their hometown paper than a writer looking for ways to make things sound as bad as possible, even before the article is even read!

So, heres an idea: How about showing some support- or at the very least, objectivity- AND getting the facts straight while you do it? Is that too much to ask, Katie?

Are we sure we want Dubie on the bench????? Thinking maybe DP would do better in Bridgeport and Dubie the starting goalie for the Isles. DP plain flat out SUX, SUX SUS, SUX.
