A playoff spot next year....how does any signs of this year point to a playoff spot next year. Do you think John Tavares is magically going to change things. He's only going to do so much. He'll have a 50 point season at best. Especially being on a team with a bunch of guys who are still looking for a scoring touch themselves. It's going to take many more years before we can contend for a playoff spot. And go past the first round. I don't want to see playoffs unless we can go past the first round. I'd rather get another draft pick and maybe land on the next Zach Parisi. Another person we passed up on.
This entire situation is going to take many years before we can be a contending team and be a threat in the Atlantic.
I agree on the draft pick...but if this team was so bad they wouldnt be playing competitive hocley against very good teams. I know their record sucks...but they are not losing 6-0, 5-1... besides the Devils (who I think is going to represent the East in the Stanley Cup) game...they are playing decent hockey. Maybe I am an optimist...but I have seen this team improve.

That's what kills me. All they really need is a couple of guys that can finish every so often, and a Dman that can clear the front of their net. They are not so far gone, but they are committed to the kids. In order for Gordon's system to work they do need some more talent. Hopefully that will come when the kids improve. Gonna be a looooong second half.
