Maybe in 5 years.

Maybe they will end the season on a high note by having the #1 draft pick.

But then Garth and Co will have a way of screwing that one up, too.

Maybe Im wrong about Park...way to gut it out the other night with the broken rib.

Witt-good to see you back!!!

I have suspicion to believe one of our defensive players is on the move with the amount of ice time Hillen is getting.
Word of advice to Jack Hillen-when our goalie gets run over-you need to stick up for him. Help Joey Mac out!
Message to GM Snow-As a team we to add some toughness. Im sure you see this already.

That was a terrible performance last night. The line of Sim, Guerin and Comrie-patheic. I just dnt get Comrie's game sometimes.

Did anyone hear the interview with John Tavares last week. He wants to be responsible for turning an organization around. Also, how his parents told him its a privlidge to wear any sweater in the NHL, regardless of what team it is. This guy know's hes gonna be an Islander. He knows he's gonna be the captain in years to come. He know's Garth is gonna offer him a 15 year deal after his rookie contract is up. He knows that in years to come, they will be a good team.

I bet she couldn't possibly come with something clever to say... you know... like saying, "Pation" again and again and again.

Your clever ingenuity is unparalleled.

For what it's worth... I read these threads almost every day but I rarely waste time commenting... because it's often at the caliber of the above. I'm usually happy when there's a post from Metal Chick... at least she has something to say.

My favorite comment is how you idiots will show up here religiously and say moronic things until some Isles fan makes an anti-Rangers comment followed by some lurker waiting to jump on it to say that Isles fans are obsessed with the Rangers. Comical.

I'd love to see you at Heaven's Gate taking stock of your life.

St. P: What did you accomplish for your fellow man?
Roger43: Well... I typed the word "Pation" in the comment thread after every Islander article in Newsday online. Is that worthy?

Couple of things:
a) the word is "privilege"
b) Snow has never offered long contracts such as that to anyone and there is no reason to believe that he will at this point. Those insane deals were brokered directly by Charles Wang and he would likely be in full control of any such negotiation in the future.

Aside from that I don't think the Isles can really go wrong with Tavares or Hedman. I don't agree with tanking a season or routing for my team to lose at any point but I will still gladly take one of those 2 guys as a consolation prize.

Seems like the Islanders will finsih last (they will at least get a top 2 pick). There are no guarantees after the rookie contract though (rookie contract = 3 years). If they plan to make him the franchise player they better surround him with some talent.

My take on the kids....for what it's worth.

Okposo-show signs of talent. Could be a future 20 goal man, but I don't see him ever scoring 30. Afraid to shoot.

Bailey-hindsight shows he would have benefited by another year in Juniors, or at least with the Soundtigers. Can't give up yet on no.1 pick, but we should have picked someone else at pick 5.

Tambellini-enough is enough. Lose him.

Nielsen-not withstanding his shootout goal, he is a never will. Can't finish.

Bergenheim-lots of speed. Plays one day, but skates in sand the next. Takes too many penalties.

Comeau-lots of hustle, but another one who can't find the back of the net. Good for 4th line.

Hillen-shows promise and talent. Young and still makes mistakes, but he'll learn and become a very good D-man.

MacDonald/Yani-ok for backup, but we need to find a top goalie to replace DP.

Jackman-good hustle and holds his own in a fight. Another 4th liner.

So, that's my take, and that's all it is. Welcome all comments, but keep them on an high hockey level.

I keep going back & forth between wanting Tavares or Hedman, would be great to have a scorer but that won't be a definite. Having a stud like Hedman on D is something to build around. If they can plug some holes in this swiss cheese D maybe some of the kids will find their touch. Can't score goals when you are in your own zone the whole night. Having said that, Comrie can't take all the blame. I don't think hes great but hes better than this

nice to see a fellow fan throw out insight.
But I respectfully disagree.

We have only touched the potential of KO. He is still learning. Plus once he gets bigger and plays a bit more physical...he'll be a force. 1st line player all the way. Maybe captain one day.

Bailey-His game over the last month has improved greatly. Snow showed great patience trading down...getting more picks and getting a player like Bailey. Again-needs to get bigger and add the physical part to his game. He is a boy amongst men. He'll be a great asset on the power play.

Tamby-hard to defend his play...

Nielsen-totally disagree with you. Im not saying he'll be a big-time scorer but watch out for him next year.

Comeau-maybe a fourth-line guy-when plays physical he plays well. But he has a bright future.

Hillen-He still makes a ton of mistakes. Too early to give up on.

Jackman-cant lose him. great 4th liner!

Campoli-has played sooo much better the last month. He will flourish in this system.

Gervais-he gets pushed around too much.

Mike-its tough to evaluate some of these guys because the lines have been juggled so much. It'll be great next year once some of these guys can play together more and get to know each others tendencies. I believe next year will be a fun year to watch this team develop. I just hope DP can get his health issues past him.
