let me axe you a question championship...why don't they call overtime losses simply losses in the NHL? Aside from the isles/rangers rivalry, the NHL is broken. Now that one team will win every contest, do away with the overtime loss. in no other sport do you get half a win for simply making it into overtime. bring back the pure tie or do away with it all together.
Secondly, the playoffs are broken. carolina sitting in third place when they should be in 7th or 8th because of divisions? if you keep the divisions, don't guarantee third place to the third division champ, guarantee them 8th place, again, we'll have 4th and 5th place with more points than 3rd and 6th place, and a worse team moves on in lieu of a better team.
do away with the points system, since the overtime loss is dumb anymore, do the standings on ties, the standings don't change all that much but it makes the standings more clear. today, you walk off the ice at the end of overtime with a win, its a win, but after an overtime loss its not a regular loss. count wins and losses as wins and losses.
thirdly? put four teams from east and west in the playoffs. no more of these 8th place teams barely at 500 playing in the playoffs against the top teams. edmonton beating the 1 seed a few years ago in the west was awful. Hey, I love the isles, but and root for them everytime they finish 8th, but its not pure or fair for a 500 team to play and beat teams that have played great all season.
Im just going by what the standings say.

If you were responding to someone else then maybe you shouldn't have quoted what I had said. I'm getting the impression that you are one of the people not worth responding to since you can't even seem to follow your own comments.
scroll way back Rob. I replied to someone who had "isles" in their name originally.

thanks for the snippy attitude though !!!
