It would be a disgrace to the entire NHL if Streit isn't being considered for the Norris...

Whose this other D man Howie and Billy were talking about from Montreal, do we have any shot of getting him, do we have any shot of keeping Witt? Do we have any shot of finally getting rid of Martinek? Tavares?

If Berard could win the Calder on a non-playoff struggling team, I dont see why Streit cant get considered for the Norris on a non-playoff struggling team. Fine play is fine play.

LOL, what the heck are you talking about? Ill try to get through it:

(1) You mean Komisarek? Eh... he is from LI so that is the big deal with him. He is also injured, but a good player. I am more indifferent with that.

(2) What do you mean do we have any shot of keeping Witt? He is not an UFA, the Islanders signed him again last season for a few more years. It is not even an issue, other than fans who get dreamy-eyed about draft picks at the trade deadline.

(3) Of coulrse there is "a shot of getting rid of Martinek- you can get rid of ANYONE if youre willing to trade them for ****. But why would the Islanders do that? Martinek is the only player on the team that, when he is in the lineup, the Islanders have a winning record as opposed to when he is not in the lineup. You can look it up for yourself if you dont believe me.

And no they are not going to finally get rid of Tavares because the kid is not a frickin Islander and possibly never will be. Or did you just feel like typing his name for no reason?

The person said it be a disgrace if he was NOT considered. You two agree, so there is no reason to argue.

There you go Isles08025, GO Tampa, Atlanta, and the Isles keep winning I'll take it. We finish last, our kids improve, we get a high draft pick, and ohn yeah, GO Pens. Go Guerin! 2009-2010 is looking very bright to me!!

Norris trophy??

Streit has had a great year but come on... give me a break.

What about Green, Weber, Rafalski, Lidstrom...

Green should actually have it locked up.... leading in goals, points and is a +20

We're hoping he's at least considered for it. If he doesn't win it it's ok. We are talking about consideration. So relax...it'll be ok.

Well if the Norris was a Most Valuable Defenseman trophy then you would be absolutely right. The Norris goes to the defenseman who is judged best at his position during the year. Streit is 3rd in d-man scoring, has a +8 rating on a team with one of the worst goal differentials in the league, and logs more average ice time than Mike Green or Brian Rafalski (players ahead of him in both pts. and +/-). Not to mention he was an All-Star this year and probably the Isles' MVP (if you can even say that for a last place team).

He has to be one of the top 5 contenders.

I wasn't knocking him... just saying he is about 5-8 on a Norris rating...

Especially since he plays on a last place team.
No player on a last place team should win any award, unless he has some ridiculous type season

Streit has been a good acquisition for the Isles. I agree that he has some numbers for Norris consideration, but won't win it. Let's just have the team play the best it can through the rest of the season and let the draft picks fall where they may.

Go Pens! That's more for Guerin than for any other reason.
