Busey: Dp has shutout the ranger$ the past 2 seasons. Hes been incredible against them at times. So how is he overrated? Whos hes overrated by? you hear more about Lundqvuist when Dp is the better goalie. You Will see dont worry.

This team(Islanders) is a piece of junk.
Its time just to play the kids, including Okoposco and see what they have. They ain't makin the playoffs with this group, a bunch of retreads and castoffs that are old! They need a true scorer, an Oveckin type or a
Kovalchuk type or at least a Malkin type, but it aint goin to happen with
Broadway just up the street.

get rid of losers that signed rickyd the blind goalie and the morans responsible for giving away the only talented, sound defenceman Bergeron. Wheel chair defence and a blind goalie what a joke.
Dubie played a very decent game something you won't get from blind ricky wait till they put that mutt back in with the depleted defence core now. what a laugh riot

I've never heard 'Bergeron' and 'sound defenseman' used in the same sentence. He was arguably the worst defensive player on the Islanders.

I was a a Jr. A goalie. Only goalies can see mistakes like this for how costly they actually are. Coaches, writers and announcers do not understand goalies. ANY goalie reading this will know I am correct. Nolans decision was not gutsy. It was STUPID!
a) It does not matter whether you feel that Dubie was left out to make near impossible stops anyway, so the outcome would be the same whether Smith, Resch, DP, etc. The mentality of the entire team needs to be that "we can win this game". When you start Dubie instead of DP, you immediately have the rest of the players feeling that they have the weaker goalie in net, and their backs are against the wall. That does NOT make them play better because they are in front of a goalie that needs more help. It makes them play worse, because as a team they have less confidence that they can win!
b) DP is a good goaltender 90 percent of the time. Dubie is good goalie 65 percent of the time. As a coach, you play the odds. The odds will always be that DP is the stronger choice. It does not matter that Dubie is hot at that moment. He would need to be volcano hot to convince me to make a move as stupid as Nolans. He has 1 good game at MSG. And I would not say it was volcano hot. It was simply exciting that he didn't blow the game for them. That is something we get from DP nearly every night anyway. But from Dubie it is unusual, so we were "excited" about it!
I am in the minority for saying this, and I have said it all season. Nolan is one of the serious WEAKNESSES of this team. He regularly benched what was the highest goal scorer on his PP (Bergeron). Doing so on a team with no offense, is a ridiculous move! He had a bias towards Chris Simon for the silly reason that they are both Native Americans, and go back a long time together. His bias was delusional to the point of complaining that Simons suspension was too harsh, when Simon actually should have been doing 3-5 in the penitentiary! And by the teams own admission they traded away their top PP scorer, partly as an appeasement to Nolan because they were also trading away his buddy Simon. A team that needs offense, needs offense. Therefore it was less important that Bergeron was a defensive liability, than it was that he can score on the PP. Likewise Berard, who Nolan also benched for much of the season. I could go on. Nolan makes a ton of obviously bad decisions as a coach.
And for the first time I have a bit of a problem with Garth Snow. It is inexcusable that Snow didn't see as far back as Nov/Dec that he needs to swing a deal or 2 for some offense!
Overall bad decision (as usual) last night by Nolan. The only one who got it right was Stan Fischler in his comments after the first period. And why? BECAUSE HE WAS A GOALIE and can see things as they actually are!
Relax Killer, you don't have to be a GOALIE or a effin rocket scientist to figure that out.

Don't blame this debacle of a team on the coach- Nolan may be the only reason this team is even in the hunt.
They have NOTHING, no scorers, no bangers, no playmakers, no speed, no defense. They do have a decent goalie. He was able to get this group to buy into the team concept and all their wins were a result of good team play.
I agree with riding the hot hand but you're right...Dubie was lucky to not lose to the Rangers Tuesday and a coach who's eyes are open would have recognized this. I say not lose because the Rangers blew some golden chances and lucky for the Islanders Lundqvist was not sharp-
wow how quick everyone forgets. Remember the begining of the year ? These were players that NOLAN wanted and picked ! To play "Nolan hockey" remember that ???
No everybody forgets he picked the players that would play his style of hockey.
I think he is ok but he is 10 yrs out of the loop. A lot changes in 10 yrs and this isn't minor league hockey , like he was coaching.
I think the dumbest thing he did with that game was to play the who is going to start game.
He screwed up his players and goalies with that BS because nobody knew until game time. Please Ted, these aren't 15 yr olds, they are pros. Big mistake IMO. Do you relly think the Rangers gave a poop who was in net ? They weren't going to lose no matter what.
Isles just screwed it up again and Wang shouldn't even have a team. This is all a big thrill for him , that's it.
I own a NHL team. Whoopee

I'd like to see Dubie get one more start about 7 or 8 games from now. Even if DP plays well down the stretch and they earn a playoff berth he'll be too worn out and they'll make another early exit. Maybe a start or 2 from Dubie would be enough. The guy has shown he can play well enough to be trusted. Why not use him on occasion?
...and when exactly do the stinking piles NOT make an early play-off exit?
