Hunter is probably one of the best players in the league at digging along the boards. He is also a fantastic hitter and he plays good positional hockey. His bad +/- is the result of playing against top players and his own (obvious) problems scoring this year. He doesn't have great speed but that didn't seem to be a problem in the past. I think he can be a very good player and a much bigger asset to the team than he is if he is paired with the right players. It seems like Hunter, Sillinger, and Fedotenko are trying to play the same style of game. Hunter seems to work better when he plays with a speed guy so they can complement each other. Do the Isles have a speed guy? It might be the only reason to hope for the return of Bates (though he probably wouldn't be too fast these days either).
Hunter is nothing more than a third rate player- He's nothing special..he'll still probably get his jersey hung up formthe coliseum rafters someday-

awesome column!
I've enjoyed Mark Herrmann's columns through the years: He always include such up-to-date and animated informations... which brings you right to the game! Thumbs way up!

I really have no clue what games you watch.
While Hunter may not have lightning speed, this guy rarely gets knocked off the puck and threads passes better than Mr Duff.
Go back to watching Ranjerks games.....
If you're content with mediocrity, then you're just a sad individual. Trix are for kids.

<quoted text> So you're saying Hunter is different than any other player on the team because he's slow? The islanders have to be the worst passing team in the league.
Nope that's exactly my point. The Isles don't have any "A" forwards.

someone should cut red light rickys legs off and and chain this punk to the net, after 40 yrs of watching hockey he is absolutely the worse when he skates out of his net, and speaking of punks, the entire team should wear ballerina tu-tu's, they are the biggest bunch of wussies ive ever seen in the nhl, not one player can handle themselves, and other teams will continue to take advantage of their edge in grit and toughness, so expect to see these girls get bounced around like rubber balls, what a disgrace, the biggest clit on the team is gervais.
