Ted Nolan should still be coaching this team- I've never seen a lopsided loss like this under Nolan-
Here's Gordon....three games already one rout-

This is season may very well be worse than we're anticipating- Oh, by the way, the St. Louis Blues stink too-
Good thing they showed up Saturday night for the home opener-

Nice write-up. And your not-so-subtle mocking of the injury policy is spot on. Hard to use the excuse of "we don't want opponents to take advantage of an injury" when you never play the athlete in question.

Good article.
This injury policy is beyond stupid, just like dressing a backup goaltender who is close-but-no-cigar to being ready to play.

But I dont blame Gordon for this foolishness. He and the players arent allowed to talk about injuries. He didnt make that stupid policy. So where does that leave him? In an impossible situation, thats where.

This injury policy SUCKS, Rick should be on IR until he is ready to play not while he is almost or nearly ready to play, and Im glad you called them on this stuff in an intelligent manner.

And for everyone saying this means they were better off under Nolan- when they were under Nolan, they PLAYED Rick when he was hurt, not just making him the backup. this stupid policy has nothing to do with the coach.

I'm an Islander fan and tell me if it's just me. Are there enough people who give a crap about the Islanders to warrant all this cloak and dagger stuff re: injuries as if this were the Pentegon or some Jack Higgins novel?
Also, what sad news about young Cheripanov. I was about to watch the Rangers-Devils game last night when Sam Rosen made the announcement. I just sat there saying why? God bless him & and his family.

The Islanders only have 2 decent young players Blake Comeau (22) and Kyle Okposo(20). Remember how well they played together last year. But now Gordon Snows puppet choses to stick it to Nolan by saying Comeau was not ready last year (Sounds like Snow)And now Okpose has been put on lines with players with little or no skill. But Tambellini is getting his 4th year to make this team and who is Thompson. If Gordon had guts he would dress Comeau and sit out Thompson and Tambellini and bring back Smith and Walter from Bridgeport. But I guess he can't Snow won't let him. Nolan was the smartest person to get out from under this idiot Snow. He signs 2 players Streit and Weight and both over 30, some youth movement. It will be a long time before this team competes on a high level again.Nolan knew this team was not that good and coached accordingly. Gordon has to set up a system that fits the players, not try and fit the players into a system that is not going to work. No wonder Boston made 4 coaching changes in the last 5 years and passed on Gordon. We now have a coach who does not decide who comes and goes who dresses and who does not dress. What a joke, a second rate back up goalie running this team into the ground. You think Wang will show up on TV and tell us how good the young players are. Or better still where are they?

gordon is a joke - c'mon. first, putting the team through drills that injure them - brilliant. Now we're reduced to a bunch of has beens, nhl virgins, and money takers (aka weight/guerin).

gordon was cheap - that's why Wang the commie hired him. Snow was cheap - same deal. tickets? not cheap.

don't go to games - ban the islanders. when they put a team on the ice worth of real hockey fans, then i'll buy a ticket.

By then you'll be buying tickets for a team in Hamilton.

I'm an Islander fan till the day I die. But I have to agree, if DP's injury is that bad, stop the charade and put him on the DL and bring up Denis or get a Goalie off waivers to be an actual backup. Also, if they don't get a Dman with some decent experience to fill Marty's slot then I'm just gonna puke.

The injury policy is silly...but the point is that Snow does not have a plan. He is running this team like a fantasy team. What is the plan? If you have one, please tell the fans. Signing older players who are hoping to have a good year just so they can sign next year with a real team is not a plan. Hey Garth, if you want to play Fantasy hockey with our team OK, but lets treat it like a keeper league and develop some decent talent.

i guess mike missed the 8-1 loss to toronto or even when tampa seemed like they had an empty net to shoot at. why don't we stop acting as if ted nolan is the next coming of scotty bowman and give this team a chance by God it's 3 games into the damn season. I do agree that comeau should be on this roster and hilbert should be a healthy scratch. I'd have said to dump this thompson but he won me over a bit by dropping them the other day. Gordon was my choice but if he keeps this favorite crap up he'll lose my support. Stop worrying about what snow or nolan wanted or liked and play the best players you have. I'm not a coach or a gm but I can tell you this, Blake Comeau is a better overall hockey player than half this roster. If we're gonna complain about something then it's why was he sent to bridgeport.

The Isles are in for this season with mounting injuries all ready. The fowards up front are too small and Jeff Tambelini is not a nhl player neither is Andy Hilbert. On any other team in the league these guys wouldnt make the roster. Sending Comeau down is a mistake at least he has a physical edge to his game. Gordons new system is up tempo but he lacks the skill at the foward position to implement this style. They need to go out and sign Parrish or Glem Murray as a insurance policy in case the youg kids don't score. I know there old but they are proven goal scorers and once again goals are going to be hard to come by. I just hope the Isles beat the snot out of the Rangers.
