what does sutter think about this hit. he whined about his son getting hit cleanly. he says that back in his days those hits wouldnt happen. which is BS. they did and those who made the hit paid the price. Or they were afraid of the enforcers on the teams. if someone went after gretzkey or bossy they paid the price. hunter stood up. but fritz and jackman should have been out there in the 3rd period every time that devil took the ice to make him pay. next time the guy would maybe think twice about making that hit. by slapping hutner with a misconduct penalty is ruining the notion of the players policing the game by themselves

Yup. Add in Sillinger & Freddy Meyer, plus Witter only game back last game and Martinek just a couple of games before. Campoli and Sutton were out for a number of games, too.

Your an @hole. Read fool.
His skate got caught , which caused his body to lower, causing the hit to be higher.
Stupid cluess fan.
Uhm.. a rut doesn't cause a hit to be higher. It was a dirty cheap hit, and one the NHL can't seem to get out of the sport soon enough. Please stop making excuses for a sorry play. The rut helped in the leg injuries. Mottau knew exactly where he was going for the hit. Sorry - but you are wrong and completely off base.

And Bettman is a worthless tool - only a 2 game suspension for that.

He even admits he hit Frans in the head:

But Campbell denies what anyone can clearly see and the player himself admits. It really is disgraceful.

Wolf,
Mattou tried to make a nice open ice hit, but Nielsen got past him and Mattou reached with a fully extended arm hitting him in the head. Nielsen then fell back with his weight mostly on the right leg. His right skate blade then got caught underneath and his body weight caused the knee to twist. If you saw it any other way then I can recommend you to a great optometrist.

BUFFALO – The New York Islanders have announced that center Frans Nielsen will be out eight-to-twelve weeks with multiple leg injuries. He was injured in the third period of the Islanders-New Jersey Devils game last night at the Prudential Center. Nielsen did not sustain a concussion.

Nielsen, selected in the third round (87th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Islanders, has 2 goals and 7 assists in 19 games this season.

Duh

where is the injury from hit to head ?????

So only if he sustained an injury directly ON or IN his head does hitting someones head count as a headshot according to you? Dont worry wolfie, you have a biased j-off like Campbell nodding right next to you on this one.

Speaking of disgraceful, why hasn't there been any talk of the officiating in that game? If anyone missed it, the Devils scored on a delayed penalty after the Isles had possession of the puck. It had been a close game at that point. The league has only offered silence as to why there was no whistle on the play. Either the refs lost sight of the puck, which should have resulted in a whistle or the refs simply forgot it was a delayed call and didn't blow the whistle when the Isles had possession. At least in football the officials admit the bad calls. The league wonders why no one watches the games. Who wants to pay to see refs, who do not even know the rules of the game, affect the outcome of a game. Mistakes are part of the game, but failing to know the rules is unacceptable. Truly disgraceful!

I hate to disagree with a fellow Isles fan-but I am about to. His ability to coach a team should have nothing to do with him smiling. What Gordon has done in a short period of time is worthy of a "good job". Gordon is still learning the abilites of his players. Nolan was a decent coach-but he gave us Simon and a defensive way to play the game. Personally I like the attacking style Gordon has brought-be patient its going to take some time.
The shame of it is this-the Isles are starting to show progress - then they lay an egg like last night-to make matters worst-Frans gets taken out be a cheap shot. Trent Hunter sticks up for the guy and gets a 10 minute game misconduct. The NHL is different...you cant just go out there beating up guys.
What kills me is, like you said, Hunter sticks up for Neilsen and gets a 10 min Misconduct, yet when Witt hits Whiny bitch Crosby with a CLEAN hard hit that puts him on his azz, 3 pens gang up on Witt and NO penalty is called. Talk about a double-standard !!!!

Relax...relax you hater.
catching an edge and getting hit in the head which leads to your foot getting caught under you are two different things.
