The key is getting Tavares. Now I feel I can put Milbury's years behind me. Snow kept the spotlight on the Islanders as long as he could by not announcing the pick early.

The de Haan pick is a little risky, and Ferraro picked @12 would've made NVCM really rattle. de Haan must of caught someone's eye while Tavares was in Oshawa.

2 goalies? The Isles and older European goaltenders go back a few years to Salficky, Salo, Soderstrom add Snow as a GM and maybe the Isles still are crazy.

Ill presume that none of you care how small Landon Ferraro is? All you care about is he is the kid of a guy who the Isles did not draft, either. Give me a break- if he wasnt Rays kid youd all be screaming how the Isles should take someone with SIZE... Ive read it enough on here!

Of all the players kids, I probably would have picked Ray Bourque's kid, but whatever.

Why did they ever trade Luongo???? Luongo & Jokinnen for Mark Parrish and Oleg Kvasha. Then, instead of needing to take a goalie (Dipietro)with the first pick of the 2000 draft, they could have picked Gaborick or Heatley. Luongo & Heatley would have looked very nice compared to DP. Add to that, the trade that sent Chara and 2nd pick (Spezza) for Yashin. Luongo...Heatley...Spezza..... Chara. The Isles would be competing EVERY year for a championship instead of for the overall #1 pick in each years draft. Great job!!!
it's part of the on going 15 year strategy that the new ownership developed and it's on as scheduled. Trade off good players, keep a moron GM in place, stay away from the Free Agent market, hire a coach every two years, etc...It took 9 years to get their franchise player but they got him. By 2015, the Islanders will be champs.
