Really nothing, Matt. I think it was a cap move, to free up some space, because the Caps know they're gonna have to pay guys like Semin and Backstrom soon, or risk losing them. Clarky's a great guy and leader, you're gonna love him there.

Clark'ie is a class act all around. The kind of leader that may not give you tangible results on the ice, but like Fedorov last season, gives an immeasurable ammount of leadership and confidence in the locker room. With the Capitals gaining maturity in its top lines (i.e. Laich, Knuble) and Ovie willingness to step up to take the captaincy, this was a unfortunate byproduct of a salary cap crunched team. Clark'ie has been in Washington since the lockout and went through the dark days of the rebuild, he deserved to be part of the Cap's for this playoff run. However, regardless of how the Jacket's do this season, you got a winner in Clark'ie. Good luck Clark'ie, your a real class act.

My wife was wearing a Clark signed sweater @ the game night he was traded. We had been wondering how come he wasn't on the ice...
Very good guy, has a summer place down the road on Lake Ontario.
Good luck Clarkie, the fish will still be biting this summer.

So glad to see this article. As a long time Washington Caps fan, I hated losing Chris Clark. He's been a BIG favorite here and the whole team seemed to go into a brief slump after he was dealt. I'm sure they all felt his absence. Now I check the Columbus stats in the paper all the time looking for his name. I'm sure he'll do himself proud and I hope his new team benefits from his expertise. We miss you Chris!
