Detroit Red Wings: Darren McCarty's Future

It's been reported that Red Wings general manager Ken Holland has told right wing Darren McCarty to seek out options from the other 29 NHL clubs.

Unfortunate yes, but he looked very hesitant when he touched the puck at the end of last year... it's time to give a prospect a chance on the 4th line

Don't panic. The wings are at the salary cap and can't afford Mac unless its on a two way contract that would most likely send him to GrR. at way low pay. If he can hook up with another team he would get at least he league minimum. Ken is just trying to do right by him. If he doesn't make another clubs roster then there is a place for him here and who knows? After we make the neccessary trades to get under the cap, anything can happen.

I heard that Holland told McCarty's agent that this ( 2 way ) deal would stay on the table for him and he should seek a better one ( one way ) elsewhere. So hokytwnnorth is right the wings are trying to do right by McCarty but the cap situation will only let them do so much.I love to see this goal http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Still love the wings but will miss # 25. Mac always played his heart out 110% of the time. He belongs up there with all the great red wings,past and present. Thanks for every thing and wish nothing but the best for you in the future. A Wings fan since 1950.
