Too bad the Wings can't trade for him. His contract is much too large and who would we have to give up to get him?

You tell 'em Jiggy!!!!
I don't want him to go. I guess there's been some truth to those rumors for him to respond this way. |

I agree the guy in a Conn Smythe winner and only 32. He is a number one goalie, he just needs to be give the chance again. I am sure there are a ton of teams that would love to take him on, especially in Canada.

Great work, Hoornstra.

Please notify the NHL that Jiggy didn't say he wanted out of Anaheim. He has said since the exit interviews at the end of the playoffs that he wouldn't accept the backup position. If he doesn't accept it in Anaheim, why should anyone think he would accept it in the NHL. Meaning -- of course he would retire if all he had to choose was backup. And you call that news? I call that a champion goalie who will only settle for the best he can give his team.

Of course this is news. You have a guy who was playing nice over the summer, saying he understood the situation and saying he would fight to win his job back. Now, coming off a groin injury, he's pointing out how much he makes and the fact that Hiller's contract is expiring and his isn't? He's no longer committing himself to quietly winning this job. He's trying to force Murray's hand to make a move. And that's definitely news. Again, I have to say great work by Hoornstra on this one. Talk about the few and the proud of the Ducks media. The quote's everywhere today; they just did a segment for it on Versus.'Bout time that. |

Ryan Getzlaf added, "I'd rather retire than turn straight!"

JP,
what was the context of Giguere's comments? Did he walk up to you and announce it? Did he call a press conference or something? Was he asked a question that elicited this response? |
||||
Actually no, he was sitting at his locker stall, Jonas Hiller sitting beside him, and I asked him two questions. The first was, "Has anyone approached you about waiving your no-trade clause?" The second was, "how do you respond when you see your name as the subject of trade rumors?" You can see how he responded. |

Here's an idea for Jiggy. Stop SUCKING when you get a start. Whining to the press rather than stopping pucks is not the way to regain the starting role.
Personally, I think he has a man-crush on Brian Burke and wants to be as close to him as possible. Jiggy probably thinks this course of action of going public will force a trade to the Leafs who can't possibly fit him under their current salary cap situation without shedding some serious moohla. Watch out for splinters in your arse riding the pine, Mr. Back-up. |
