I am really sirprised that the Wild made no effort to re sign Gaborik. IF the hip surgery cures his former medical problems - he may go on and be the scoring machine he always had the ability to be when he's healthy. The ironic thing is that Fletcher signed the guy fro Chicago with - guess what? A history of injuries which kept him off the ice for long periods of time. Go figure! I hope the transactions work out for the best for Gaborik and for the Wild. Good luck Marion, and thanks for the memories!! GO WILD!!

Fun to watch when playing but never played enough. In the end, not worth the money or the offer, both the Wild fans and Gaborik are best served withe a fresh start. Gabby, hope you do not slip on the dance floor and hurt your groin at Studio 54.

He won't come close to honoring his new contract, and neither will Hossa.

Why would Fletcher offer Gaborik anything when he can go out and get a replacement for 2 million per year less and spend that money on other needs for this team?? Fletcher and Co. get a B+ so far this off-season.

Gaborik is a wonderful player full of talent! He gave us fans so many great times!!! We got the best of them. We got to see him grow in these 9 yrs! We got to see him score 5 goals in one game against his new team! I really do wish him the best of luck! The wild and him needed a change! He will be missed, but dont hate him because he made a decision to leave! Love him for what he did for this team!

His agent should have made the comments himself rather than having Gaborik pretend that he would have "considered" an offer from the Wild. He rejected a much better deal and gave no indication this summer that he wants to be here - which is his right - but please spare us the nonsense.

because hockey is a buisness, if your not going to win you still need to fill the seats sell merchandise. get corporate investmenst . something your 2 mill dollar replacement wont do.

Mary Ann, we tried to negotiate with you but you made it clear you didn't want to be with the Wild.

How many times do you expect people to keep crawling back to you before they give up?

Besides, you're not worth the money you signed for, much less the greater money we offered earlier.

We need a player that can play both ends of the ice and doesn't feign injury every time so much as a mosquito farts.

And neither wood Gabby. You need to actually suit up and play a game or two to draw fans in.

The Wild did make an offer to Gaborik...early last season they offered him 10 years and $78.5 million. Gabby turned it down. That says to any GM, new or not, that Gabby simply didn't want to be here anymore. It's irritating that now Gaborik is leaving town with that parting shot. The Wild made him the best offer they could to get him to stay and he said no. What Gaborik should have done was simply said it was time for a new direction for both he and the Wild...that would have been the professional thing to do. I can't wait for the first time that groin goes out and the New York fans and media eat Gaborik alive.

why would we ever offer this loser a contract anyhow? He was always hurt. Last season, as he was injured, he was back home in Florida, supposedly rehabbing, yet hardly even followed the team..that was by HIS OWN admission......what does that tell you?..it says it is all about ME,ME,ME...the Wild are a lot better off with this cancer off the team.....

I've never been a Gaborik fan because it seemed like he thought the world revoled round him. I don't think anyone hates him because he's going. I also don't understand the folks who think that not having him means we'll have a losing season. I would like to say I wish him well, but I actually would be pleased to see Clutterbuck aim and hit at the first opportunity.

Maybe the new GM didn't want to give super star pay to a part time player. I am willing to bet he doesn't play full time for the Rangers. The guy is a sissy. I think a hangnail would keep him out of a game.

It's 2 mil per year LESS, not total. Yes, it's a business on both ends, and a good business decision was made by letting Gaborik take his consistently unhappy attitude and pieced together groin to NYC.

I know you are referring to the latest playoffs in which he was completely shut down by the Avs (1 point in 6 games), but in the other two years the Wild made the playoffs, Gaborik scored 21 points in 23 games. It was easy for Colorado to shut down the Wild. They only had to shut down one guy for the Wild to not have an offense. You need more than one line in today's hockey to be successful.

Maybe his new team will make him play when he gets a hangnail rather than taking a month off every year. Who cares he wasn't a Wild but for more than 1/2 the season anyway.
