Some 346 people have signed a petition at Battle's Hardware supporting the Carmichaels. We'll sign it, too.
I assume I can walk into Battel's and sign too? If so I will . Please post if this is the case. |

Yes, you can. There's a yellow sign-up sheet in the store.

I take serious issue with a code that prohibits a business from informing the public that IT is open for business. That smacks in the face of the Commerce Clause

Lets not look to make Battles an example of the cities poor decisions on being business friendly..We have plenty of examples of that already..No In and Out no Wal-mart no Lowes no Costco...Look at our bordering cities they ALL have been far more receptive and more successful in obtaining business'...Lets for sure keep the ones we have..This container has absolutely no effect on their parking (even if it did, so what?). It is their life blood to remain competitive in this market. What does it take Whittier City to understand that you "MUST' cater to your business', have you not learned anything from your mistakes of the past..One mistake is an error, two is stupidity..Use your codes as a guide line, even LAWS have grey areas and are discretionary in a lot of enforcement areas..This is sure one of them!..Get a grip council.

I would hope that the city council can overlook this small "flaw" and give support to the businesses that still hang on within their city limits. This business has had the storage in place for at least 4-5 years, then someone gets a hair up and tries to hinder a long time, money making business from doing just that...making money. Sign the petition!!!
