Whatever happened to the electric car you guys built way back when you lived on Clearview Ave? It was a green Renault, wasn't it?
I remember your cat had kittens and my father bought one home for me.
Nice story.

This is a real "Gentle Giant" of a man, not only in stature but of heart. This is a purely wonderful story.

Your life story, like so many of our parents' stories from the "Greatest Generation", are a constant reminder to all of us of the bedrock that this great nation was built on. Your generation understood what it means to "Do the Absolute Best With What You Have" regardless of how little or how much you or anyone else thinks you have! Thank you, Fred, for living your life as an American who will always be grateful for the opportunity to live and raise a family in the land of "Freedom". We can only try our hardest to imitate all that you have done.

I grew up down the street from the Drenkhahn's and during the years, our paperboy changed. We started with Dickie, then Billy, and I believe we ended up with Jimmy. All the boys were as polite and responsible as could be. I remember them fondly. They were always friendly and well-mannered. And as silly as it may sound, I want that blue house with the expansive and beautifully landscaped front yard to remain the "Drenkhahn house"....I guess in my mind, it always will be.

Excellent article as usual, something for us old folks to think about.
