I think that mentioning Mr. Janway's employment by I&W in the lead of this story was petty and below the belt. It has nothing to do with this particular topic and was just thrown at us as a sort of "lookee here!" novelty observation.

If you are going to address the potential conflict of interest regarding Mr. Janway's employment and his new position of civil service (and I agree there might be one) please do so by talking with Mr. Janway about how he will handle that situation. As it stands, this article feels like you were just trying to lump that observation into a somewhat unrelated story, and in doing so, pooped on Mr. Janway's parade, so to speak.

I have, Erm... And Mr. Janway is going to resign from I&W very soon. He gave him his 2 week notice the moment he won the election and getting another job that is shouldn't have a conflict with his work and the job the citizens of C-bad elected him to do.

I remember back in the 80's & 90's when they were trying to get WIPP openned. As we will recall the main person standing in the way was non other than Bill Richardson, then U.S. Congressman representing northern NM. He single handedly campaigned and was re-elected over 5-times, and held up WIPP for about 10yrs.

Then low & behold, Clinton named him Sec. of Energy, and he had it open within 1-yr ! The connection here is that Janway, now being mayor could be a good thing.

I am in agreement that the article on the front page of the Argus was out of line. Mayor Janway has expressed concern to deal with the brine well issue as well as other pressing issues in the city on an accelerated agenda. Lets all do research and make informed decisions and public comments. I just don't think it is resonably possible that one individual in a large corporation can be held accountable for anything that company ever did. People who chose to poop on the Mayors parade are only trying to set the new administration up for failure. Great idea for any one who wants the issues in the city fixed. I say, "Fix the problem first, not the blame!"
