My Kenmore 158.523 use to run fine. Then I got busy and it has lain unused for about 15 years. Now it's oiled and running, but the material is NOT going through.
The feed dogs go up and down but not back and forth. Is this normal? Could this be the problem?
Any ideas? Thanks.

I have one a friend asked me to put on Craigslist. I could use the cabinet for another sewing machine if someone needs parts from this model.
I know this is an old post from you...but you wouldn't happen to still have the Sears Kenmore sewing machine still, would you? My Mom gave me hers when she moved and she lost the foot pedal thinking it was no big deal until we tried to plug it in only to find that the power cord to the machine motor also connects to the foot pedal. So now I am on the search for the foot pedal/power cord. You could get back to me by emailing me... [email protected]
Thanks for your time,

Someone gave me a Kenmore sewing machine # 36 without a manual and I would really like to have a manual. I have looked on the Kenmore website, but nothing for a #36. Suggestions please.

Mine is in a cabinet and the page I found told me $10.00 that's mine in a cabinet. I will just keep it.

I just got this machine (158.523) two weeks ago. Came in a nice table, machine sound good and runs well. My problem is it does not the cams. I try getting from sear but its no longer made.

Do I need cams to sew a straight Stitch. Anyone out there be interest in selling cams, I be happy to buy at least one to see if this machine works. Please some out there help me.

What's the model? Here you can find a lot of free manuals of Kenmore sewing machines:

I have one I bought when I was pregnant with my daughter 44 years ago, and it still works perfectly. I bought a new Singer machine a few years ago, and I hated it, and went back to my Kenmore. The best thing about it is that it's in a table with a knee control.
Could I ask you how much you paid for the machin how much you paid for the machine originally... A friend of mine has one and is curious as to what she paid originally... Thank you very much
