i didn't see anything in this article about the gullah and their annual, cultural celebrations but this was an interesting article to say the least.

id you folks know that 1960's and 1970's heavyweight Joe
Frazier was a Gullah?(In fact,"Smokin' Joe spoke just Gullah
dialect until he was seven).

no, i didn't know that. i was in south carolina some years ago and met a small gullah community.

they were nice and cordial but don't fully accept other black people not of their gullah people.

we all had a nice time. they are a very cultural and proud people.

Clarence Thomas is also a Gullah. He's not exactly someone I'd claim though if I were them.

Gullah speech is very interesting, and very African.

I met a Gullah man once, but the mainstream AA with him had to translate between us, as I could not understand him.

Fascinating culture and I have also read that their food is incredibly good.
