Con Hallahan, Being the mail carrier signed off on many Homestead papers as he had first hand evidence that the Homesteaders proved up on their claim. Con had his homestead South east of the Gary school and I believe the property is still in the Hallahan family! I have a homestead dead of some property on the Beaver creek that my grandfather brought hanging in a picture frame on the wall. My grandfather homesteaded (320 acres) some land West of Woodrow in what was then Arapahoe County south of the south Morgan county line and later selling it for the Albers Gary ranch which he owned for 40 years.

Another interesting Homestead fact is that moms uncle Max Peterson homesteaded a piece of land in the sand hills just south of Brush that had not been claimed until the oil boom in the 1950's, He wanted the oil rights to it.
