Cleaver family more amiable than John Smith's
#1 Oct 25, 2010
"John Lansign of San Pedro wrote,'I'm truly sorry that your daughter thinks that `space is impossible.' This can be overlooked since she was not born yet when it was proven that it isn't. America went from having almost no space program in 1960 to having people on the moon by 1969, because our president asked us to. As anyone who has worked for an aerospace company can tell you, for this to be done in nine years probably ranks among the greatest accomplishments of humankind.... In short, it wasn't so impossible.'
"When I worked at JPL in the mid-'70s on the Viking and Voyager projects, we did, to be sure, consume our share of bagels. But we never sat around talking about how impossible the job was. We just did it."
Yes, it was just like that, but why did they forget us?
Why did entertainment take over,
and all the goodies we import now from China.
Who will pay for them?
When our credit runs out?
"How We Got to the Moon" was Marsha Freeman's story, and Americans would do well to think about it. We didn't win our great achievements in Las Vegas. We took risks and worked for them to happen. We didn't sit and wait for the "economy" to improve. We were part of the economy, and life. Now we became bystanders. and Peter Drucker had warned us about that dreadful "Political Correctness and [the] American Academe" .
