Genealogy Query - DAVIDSON : DAVIS

Looking for information on the family of Rev. Thomas J. Davidson, a Methodist clergy in Lost Creek area of Wayne County, from late 1840's to around 1870.

Rev. Davidson's two brothers, Jonas George and Harvey W. Davidson were farmers and Methodist ministers who came from Wayne County in the early 1850's and settled in the area around Gibson, Holcomb Island and Clarkton. Jonas helped organize the Old Gravel Hill Church and had a large family. Some of his children included John T., William Henry, James Edward,Melissa (m. Robert Benson),Thomas J., Nancy J. (m. William Walker),etc.William Henry Davidson was married five times and one of his sons was named Aaron Arthur. Many of their descendants stayed in the area around Gibson and central Dunklin County. The three brothers also had a younger sister named Julia Ann, who married the Rev. J.H. Wade, who served at the Chalk Bluff mission during the Civil War. He moved to Yellville, Ark. after the war and became the Nestor of Arkansas Methodism.

Rev. Davidson is the brother of Harvey and Jonas George Davidson, many of their descendants settled in the area around Gibson, Holcomb Island, Clarkton and Freeborn. Jonas is metioned in the book, "The History of Dunklin County" as having helped organize the Old Gravel Hill Church, just north of Gibson. He had several children, including William Henry, John Thomas, Thomas J. and James Edward. Anyone who has information on this family, please comment.

Jonas George Davidson is my GGG Grandfather, My GG Grandfather is John Thomas Davidson who married Amanda Weathers and Dora E Riley Key. John Thomas and Amanda Weathers are my Great Grand Parents. Oscar Davidson is my Grandfather and my father was Oshel Lee Davidson who married Mamie Lee Galloway. Most of the family moved to Mich. during or right before the depression. Oscar Davidson died in 1958 my father died in 2002 in Texas. My mother is still living

My (GG) Grandfather was also Jonas George Davidson. My Great-Grandfather was William Henry who was the brother of your GG Grandfather, John Thomas! My Dear Grandfather was Jonah O. Davidson, born 1896 - died 1986. My mother is Mattie Davidson-McVety.

So .... Mr. Harry Truman Davidson, you and I (Ronald McVety) are cousins!!
