In the 1800's when my family came to Canada, a GGrandfathers brother went to the south pacific. My father always told me Tahiti. Any input appreciated,

I have a registration of birth from Papeete for my brother's grandfather listing his father as Arthur Labourre entrepreneur de maçonnerie, âgé de trente-et-un ans, domicilié en cette commune au lieu dit Fautaua, and mother as Ruta Guifford. I know some of the family still lived in Papeete in 1980's, Willy and Tematai and also some in France, such as Madame Cousteau Othilia and her daughter Carole, unless they are now dead. The certificate, done October 1, 1894 listed Francois CARDELLA, Maire et officier de l' état civil de la Commune de Papeete, Île Tahiti, Fermin Xavier SAVIGNAUNT, Conducteur des Ponts et Chaussées, âgé de trente-deux ans, 2 Eugene Jules PATER, sous-brigadier de police, âgé de trente-six ans, tous deux domicilié en Pateete, Perhaps this little bit of info might be of help to someone, or might catch the eye of some of my brother's famly.

Aloha! I am related to the Noble family in Papeete. My great grandfather's brother apparently moved there from England, I heard he was a coffee & tea trader. He married a Tahitian woman, had a few children, but then divorced and remarried a woman from the Marquesas Islands. He had three sons with her. I spoke to one of the grreat granddaughters of the Tahitian branch about to years ago via email, but she ended contact after she told me she was going to ask her great grandmother for more family information. I think she was told to drop contact as my ancestor divorced her. I still want to research other possible family members if anybody has any knowledge of the Noble's either in Tahiti or the Marquesas. Thanks!
Hi Patrick,
I should be able to get some information for you. My mother-in-law was born a Noble. She is 93 and lives in UK. Her father Edgar Noble went to Tahiti around 1920 with her brother Maurice. I believe Maurice was married twice. Does any of this strike a chord? I will try and speak to my mother-in-law in the next day or so.

My great-grandmother was Tahitian but moved to Hawaii (I believe she was about 12 or 13 years old)as a nanny for a missionary family. When her missionary family moved back to the United States (I believe back to the east coast), she was left behind and hanai by a Hawaiian family on Maui. She went by the name of Elizabeth Nuuanu Napoleon. On my grandmother's birth certifiicate my great-grandmother's name was listed as Lizzie Kaahu?? I am not sure but I believe her hanai family was Kaahu. According to my grandmother, her mother had brothers still living in Tahiti and was in contact with them but lost touch. Any information on Elizabeth would be greatly appreciated.

This forum can work; it did in my case! I now have confirmed that the Noble Family in Tahiti is also a branch from my family of nearly 100 years ago. Through this forum we are now connecting with family we were certain were lost forever; family that has spread to many parts of the world including Tahiti, the USA, Ireland, England and France; it's wonderful! Thank you Topix for your wonderful service!

My greatgrandfather's name is Emile Teahu Tetiarahi. Back in the 19's we manage to trace our relatives thru NZ newspapers as some are residing there. My greatgrandfather has 5 children of whom my grandmother(Helene Uraau Teputia) is the eldest and four young brothers namely,Auguste Hiara,Leone Teamo,Francois Teahu Bubu, and Alexandre Edmond Henri Tauha. Only Francios and my grandmother are now residing on Rabi island in the Repulic of Fiji so Iam looking forward to meeting the desendants of my grandmother's brothers. Two already came in the 1970s namely Abel and Collingo but then we just lost contact. I know they are in NZ and some are in Hawaii.

If anyone knows anybody of the Tetiarahi's desendants please you may email me thru this address <[email protected]>or <[email protected]>

I am looking to gather more information on my great grandfather Rimamotu. We believe Rimamotu was born in Tahiti and was decended from the Pater family. His mother travelled from Aitutaki in the Cook Islands to Tahiti in the late 1800's. Her name was Mareta. Rimamotu then moved back to the Cook Islands and settled in Mangaia where he raised his family. In 1914 he had a son named Ferdinnand Pater. We believe that Ferdinnand returned to Tahiti. In 1915, Rimamotu had my grandfater Tiavare. If anyone knows of the Pater family or similar, email me on [email protected]
