Could this be because they are opening their new factory in Mexico in February and that the owners paid out a large settlement to an ex-CEO? There have been very few "executives" lose their jobs, this I know for sure

There were no executives laid off. Nordam is top heavy with upper management and marketers. That's why they are sending business to mexico. They can't compete like they used too.

now that makes me feel safe - manufacturing their products in mexico? that's like the armageddon movie where the guy says something along the lines of flying into space on rocket filled with 10000 pounds of jet fuel built by the lowest bidder.

by the way - those of you who take any kind of meds - BEWARE THE DRUGS MANUFACTURED in NEW DEHLI INDIA. we picked up a prescription at walmart and that's where it was made.

now our lives are being treated by the lowest bidder in medicine.

Until companies decide to organize instead of outsource the economy will not be back, I vote we for companies to pay penalties on products they outsource. Outsourcing in what will ruin America, if we cant afford to put food on the table then how will we be able to pay for the greatest military in the world.

Nordam is full of really caring wonderful people. When I first started working here, there was a woman that became ill and couldn't work. The employees donated a house for her to live in, fixed it up with furniture, filled up her refrigerator and even gave her a car to drive. When another woman died, the Nordam stakeholders donated their frequent flier miles and flew her family from California, Mexico, and Maine to attend the funeral. These are the kind of employees that Nordam has. The management has had to make some difficult decisions. We weathered 9/11 and we will weather this. Some of my best friends were laid off and it really hurts, but they will have a life beyond Nordam. Bottom line is what the executives are interested in. God help them.

its not the laying off so much as it is the style with which they are going at it.
laying of senior people who have 20+ yrs and retaining people hired in 06, and o7
because the make half the money.
yes nordam weathered 9/11 but, that was with the leadership of Ray Siegfried. he did not dump senior people. he put everyone on 32 hrs and less and then all of nordam weathered the storm.
Nordam is no longer a family as it was during 9/11
sorry Granny but you better start looking for another job. because the co will be sold eventually to a competitor. adn it will probably be moved elswhere. Rays kids unfortunetly as well meaning as they are can not carry on their fathers legacy. only one like RAY.

And Ray was struggling with ALS Disease and still made everyone feel important. He sure was a jewel. I remember the furloughs and wage freezes. This time the upper management all got promoted and compensated I'm sure before the wages being frozen and all of the lay offs that have happened. I like my job and I hope I get to keep it. It is the people I work with that makes it such a great place to work.

From an FAA standpoint, these layoffs were critical to the profitability of the corporation.

I left there when I was doing half the work in my group of 12. I was surprised when the company made it out of 2007.
